In-

Bryan Ruiz
Orlando Sa
Zdenek Grygera

Out-

Raffik Halliche (loan)
You missed the Liverpool youngster from your list, but happy days indeed! Bryan Ruiz is supposedly the best player in Holland, so really looking forward to seeing him in white! :)

Nel-A: I'd buy Everton and restore them to being in the footballing elite, which is where I as a neutral think they belong.
avatar
Delixe: That would be my choice as well. All Everton really need is a bigger stadium.
avatar
Nel-A: On Man City though, I remember when they were playing in the old 3rd division as a kid. Didn't they get the council to pay for the COMS too?
avatar
Delixe: They sure did. Some teams just have all the luck. Make sure you point out just how lucky their supporters are when they start mouthing off. In truth I can't really blame them for acting as arrogant as they are given how they have been under United's shadow for so long but at the same time it's had to not agree they are ruining the Premiership at the moment. In one game they had 250 Million of talent just sitting on the bench. Then again they wouldn't be able to do what they do if all footballers weren't money grabbing selfish pricks.

Earn 40 grand a week playing for a mid-table team or earn 120 grand a week doing absolutely nothing? It's hard to argue with them really.
Yeah, absolutely. If the money is on offer, we can't blame players for going to it. If another company offered to nearly double my wages, I'd be off in a shot.

I don't really think Man City are ruining the Premiership - not any more than Man U, Chelsea, Scudamore, etc already have done. I think they are a symptom, not the cause. You *have* to have money to compete, Man City have just taken that to the nth degree! I do think that the very concept of the Premier League is skewed in favour of the top teams. When football fans have to talk like accountants, something is badly wrong!

Also, just quickly, Craven Cottage has to be one of the most beautiful football grounds anywhere in the world.

HomerSimpson: Interesting points above. Which leads me to this question:

If you had the money to buy any club in the world, but were not allowed to buy the club you support, would you....

A) Buy a large club like Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea, etc. or....

B) Buy a small club and work towards building it into something big

Tough choice for me. I think I'd lean towards B, though. There's something about the notion of taking a club from a lower division and helping build them to prominence that's very appealing to me.
Id say B though some examples in europe it would make me doubt overwise, I did a lot of reading about Hoffenheim in germany Their owner bought them into the top league and it seems alien from some people views....

Though I live just outside brighton and Tony Bloom took over from their long standing chairman(dick knight) and has funded the move into the new stadium and they are absolutely flying, I like probably everyone else squinted at least 5 times to see that Vicente has penned a deal to play, This a club 10 years ago had to win its last game to avoid being relegated to non-league, I guess for the fairytale I could bring would be more satisfying than to a club who has already witnessed it.....
All right. Back to the games and my (sure to be terribly off) predictions:

Arsenal 2 Swansea 0- Aresnal have to win this game. No other result is acceptable. Though I'm nervous that Vorm will keep Swansea in it.
Everton 2 Aston Villa 2
Man City 3 Wigan 1
Stoke 1 Liverpool 2
Sunderland 1 Chelsea 1 (just a gut feeling)
Wolves 2 Tottenham 1
Bolton 1 Man U 2
Norwich 1 West Brom 1
Fulham 2 Blackburn 0
QPR 1 Newcastle 1
Chelsea vs. Man U? I have to give the edge to Man U at home this weekend.
Well, it's time for a short rant. Getting demolished by Man U at Old Trafford is one thing. But losing to Blackburn with a supposedly bolstered squad? Completely unacceptable. I don't want to hear that Arsenal were unlucky. They played like shit and it's time for calling out Wenger. I've defended him to this point, but no longer. The only reason he shouldn't get the axe at this point is that there isn't a viable replacement at hand. He can't bemoan his team's budget and then employ tactics as though he had Barca's squad. And for God's sake, keep the defense on the training pitch until they know how to form a straight line!

And Johan Djourou should never wear an Arsenal shirt again. Ever.
I don't follow the Premier League that closely, but Wenger strikes me as stubborn to a fault. He seems utterly devoted to his concept and unable to acknowledge any mistakes. It's always someone else at fault - the ref, the pitch, the opposing team playing too defensive or too dirty.

He's done a lot for Arsenal, but I can see someone more flexible and with the ability to be more critical of himself and his team serving them better.
Big game starting soon, Liverpool versus Manchester United.

Manchester with a very unusual starting eleven:

De Gea, Smalling, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Jones, Park, Fletcher, Giggs, Young, Welbeck

Bench:

Lindegaard, Rooney, Nani, Anderson, Hernandez, Carrick, Valencia

Crazy, crazy stuff. Will be interesting to watch.
Well, I'd say Man City made a statement today.
OK.
OK.

DISAPPOINTED!
Glad I didn't watch the second half.

Also glad I'm not on the team in the dressing room afterwards when Sir Alex kicks down the door.

Also; who says you can't buy everything?

2 red cards for Chelsea, and 45 minutes to go.
certainly didnt expect the Man Utd result

certainly enjoying Newcastle's run while it lasts (which i'm sure will be ended by having chelsea and the 2 manchesters in a row)
Given Newcastle's defensive form so far, I think they can produce 3 points over the next three matches. That wouldn't be bad at all.
