The game was cancelled in this spring by publisher for some unknown reason, but few days ago it became known that some persons who were involved in development laid out unfinished version of the game. People who tried to play say that it's working, some even tried multiplayer.
After all it seems it's the only chance to look at this game. Last goodbye or something.

Paradox keeps silence yet.
Comment on the beta seen on another forum:

I've been playing the beta for the past couple days, It's pretty fun, but it does a have a few problems, mainly the economy is really screwed up, the spying system doesn't really work, and the game crashes every time you have an election. for some reason the 1945 start has the US with no nukes and Britain with four. I was able to get past the election crash by using console commands to get rid of human rights and turn the US into an authoritarian dictatorship without elections.
Viva Tropico! :D

I'd wish they simple open source abandoned games. Maybe some would be picked up by the community. But probably most of the time they can't because of dependencies related to other licenses (like engine etc).
