Playing BF3 my clan was talking about the earlier games. I also saw GOG has ARMA. Whats the chances of seeing the classic bf?
Looks like it could come here eventually, depends on how the rights are divied up. EA is a signed publisher so it's at least plausible that Battlefield will be here.
Would be nice for Battlefield: Vietnam to show up but the music would probably get axed due to licensing issues.

Of course being an EA published title means no Battlefield 1942 expansions though they add very little in terms of gameplay.
I've been thinking of setting up a BF1942 dedicated server based in Asia. I just don't know if there's much of an interest anymore. I never got into BF2 for long. While it has a lot of cool features, it lacks the finely-tuned, structured feel of pacing from BF1942. Plus I never really liked the jets.
I'd love to see a revival of BF1942. Not much multiplayer interest in it these days, though.

I never played it and always meant to. Perhaps they can revive their failed attempt at the future one. I don't recall why it failed, something about some sort of extra cost or feature that really pissed off players back then (and probably is completely acceptable now). I always thought the future one sounded fun.
BF1942 was one of my favorite games. I used to spend hours playing the demo online.

I never played it, but if I recall correctly, it was in-game advertisements. I remember people complaining that there were billboards in the game advertising Intel Pentium D processors, which kinda killed killed the 2142 atmoshpere.

I'm thinking of renting a server from Hypernia. They host from a variety of locations, including Asia, Australia, US and Europe. I am, however, mainly interested in just getting a server for my brothers and I. Are there any services that still sell the cdkey cheaply? Heck I don't even need the game itself. I already have it stored somewhere in my collection.
For some reason i dont see it happening anytime soon. The only EA titles we got are very old ones, i think all of them are from 90s. We dont even have Undying and Black and White yet.

That may have turned some people away, but what really killed 2142 was the lack of support from EA/Dice. The community just died out from server problems, lag, and horrible punkbuster support. For at least a month at one time no one could sign into the EA master servers, and play more than ten minutes without being kicked.

It's a real shame, cause 2142 did have some real unique gameplay, with titan mode and everything. Hopefully we'll see a remake someday.

That might be because GOG wants to release the "relly hard to gets" first. Syndicate and the Crusader series are much more interesting to the community than those "new" titles. It will be interesting to see, were EA/GOG will draw the line between releasing here and Origin.
