Remakes are tricky for me... I love seeing a game like Monkey Island 2 all snazzed up with new art and graphics, but the purist inside me will probably default to the original version when I next replay the game. I like the source ports that make Doom and similar games run in 3D environments with mouse control, but I mainly like them because the assets and levels are the same. An actual reskin or something would bug me.

So... it's a fine line for me. I don't want remakes as much as I want enhanced and extremely faithful versions, or something like that.

And yeah, EA has a massive catalog and they need to freaking re-release them in some form.

I thought it was classy of LA to offer both the remake and original graphics in a package playable on modern systems - I'm about to try the Secret of Monkey Island remake for the first time and I'm looking forward to it.
i would not mind a remake of road rash :D

The first remake is a little rough, it's Monkey Island 2 where they nailed it.

"It’s rumoured the publisher is set to reboot the old Bullfrog series Syndicate, with development thought to be handled by Starbreeze Studios in Sweden."

Yeah that's been going around a while. Starbreeze are awesome so I look forward to it. It almost surely will be an FPS though, so expect much bitching.

*grumble*

I wouldn't actually mind a first person perspective so long as:
1. It was fully tactical like SWAT 4 kind of thing. Only without the spirit of Gandhi guiding your team mates, obviously.
2. Didn't result in console-sized shitty small environments. If there's no city there's no Syndicate.
3. No cover mechanic bullshit for hopefully obvious reasons.

That would likely confuse the casual gamers. I think it's likely you will be disappointed.

Starbreeze haven't pandered to them before and Syndicate isn't the best IP to render casual. All EA would do is deter both casual gamers and fans of the original alike. But yes, I'm not about to confuse EA with a company that has sense. They've got shareholders to please after all. Shareholders effectively serve to decapitate the company concerned which naturally removes the brain too.

Just throwing that out there ;)

But is Dragon Age 2 really all that much different to NWN1? From what I gather about Dragon Age 2 they're both disappointing action RPGs that have a very thin guise of being something more than that. They also have similar quality graphics too, for that matter. :P

I think that Dragon Age 2 was more of a cash in on the first one than an effort to make a casual game. It's not like there are any anime-inspired characters with ^_^ faces in there, are there?

Well you have Mike Laidlaw the lead designer saying they were targetting people who didn't play RPG's so yeah I would call that making a casual-friendly game. Except of course it seems to have failed based on sales figures. CoD fans were not interested and neither were RPG fans. The vast majority of it's sales so far are pre-orders so when it comes to DLC and the inevitable DA3 it looks like that decision is going to hurt them.

There might not be anime but the Elves certainly have a passing resemblance to those Blue aliens in Avatar now which is just as bad if you ask me.

They look more like rejects from a 2003 zombie game if you ask me.
