Pretty cool huh? Love you EA.

I get the gist, but find it hard to understand the details.

I'd ask for a transcript (and proof of authenticity), but then again, the clip is at least a year old, so ...
He's a business man talking business.

There's a very good reason why the guy never talks to the players. His expertise isn't in understanding or making games; that's what developers are for. But he does understand economics and psychology, and that probably makes him very good at his job, which is to keep the profits high and expenses low. And he also knows how to put up a good face toward potential investors and business partners.

It is player's responsibility to figure what they want and think things through before making a purchase.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was real. People will pay for anything these days.

I have. All of the places I get when I put his name and microtransaction into google are just people discussing the issue. There's even threads on EA's own websites like battlelog and Bioware where not a single person screams fake.

Edit- Even when I add fake to the google, the only results are people going "This has got to be fake right? Nobody is that dumb." type of stuff,

You should think the other way around. Why is it real? That is actually the first question the critical mind should ask.

IIRC it's based on a conference call when the battlefield microtransactions first started being talked about (2k8 ish?) with a couple of words removed to make it look like he's talking about something else the "$1 for ammo" is in reference to golden ammo for example the talk was about bringing in casuals and getting them to pay for things. MT's aren't as big as EA expected though so it's been backed out of pretty much (ME3 getting free DLC's for example). I still think one of the big publishers should back out of DLC's and move over to say XDL (expansion downloads) ie bigger packs of multiple features at a higher price than the DLC market basicly going back to the old days would be nice...
