jamyskis: Given that the movie rights to Dune (on which the games were based) belong to Universal Pictures, the situation there is likely to be rather tricky.

Even worse, the literary rights to the estate of Frank Herbert belong to the Trident Media Group, who I hear are absolute bastards to deal with, and they would probably also have claims arising from any republication of the games, as they own many of the Dune-related trademarks.

So I don't see a rerelease of Dune or Dune 2 happening really. EA only owns the rights to the Dune 2 game itself, not to Dune 1 (which is in limbo, being the property of Avalon Interactive, which has since gone bust) or the Dune trademarks.
