I'm not especially touchy, and even I thought this particular scene sounded offputting. It's hard to depict things like that in a humorous way - and if they weren't trying to be humourous - what exactly were they trying? Satisfying their teenage tentacle rape fetishes?

Yes, DN3D had girls wrapped in alien goo that told you to kill them too, but nothing as directly graphic as this scene. Watch in on Youtube before you continue judging everybody speaking out against it, seriously.

I used to think the gory scenes in games like Prey were simply good fun, and I was pretty perplexed at this scene. The combination of the obviously tried at but horribly failed humour, the extreme content, and the absolute lack of logic in it being there in the first place makes it a situation which is clearly in very, very bad taste. It's not even B-movie splatter bad taste, it's just really bad taste. And for me it's just another nail in the coffin of an already failed game.

Seriously, I think people need to stop getting offended and just enjoy the game.

And if laughing at UN-pc stuff is childish then send me to daycare because I will get a kick out of it and not whine about it like some overprotective parent at a PTA meeting.

Do you even get why I made this thread? So that BOTH sides could weigh in and judge the game by itself and free of reviewer bias....yet most of the comments so far have been people bashing the game just because it's not DN3D, or it's not "good" to laugh at un-pc stuff anymore because we've "grown past that". Or the engine is outdated, the textures look bad, etc.

Are you capable of grasping the core concept that people might not agree with your viewpoint? If so, then why are you constantly replying to every perceived "attack" on the game in this fashion?

You won't even admit that it's possible some people might not enjoy a scene like the one we're presently discussing? Are you that blinded by your own ambition to defend the game at any cost, or are you just not willing to participate in any kind of compromise yourself? Do you expect to have a worthy discussing if you're not?

I don't care whether or not you like the game. I do not associate like or dislike of you personally with whether you like or dislike the game. But I think you believe that I do. You're confusing people being annoyed at you with people being annoyed about what you think about the game.

Defending the game is one thing, but your "defending" always slides towards attacks at various velocities. Like accusing "everybody" of making shit up just to have something negative to say about the game. Do you really think I'd be bothered to sit here and make shit up just to bash the game because I think that would annoy you?

If you're defending, or trying to have a discussion, you're doing so very clumsily, to the point of people just giving up on discussing with you.

Lastly, you admit you haven't even played it yet, which sort of makes any attempt you make at defending it completely moot because you don't have any actual experience with it. You just assume you're going to love it.

Or put it another way; you've decided to love it, no matter what. Whether that's genuine or just a tool for you to have a convenient way of trying to come off as a "victim" defending the "nonpopular" choice, I can't tell.

The bottom line remains; you come off as a typical [insert popular game franchise here] fanboy who's time would probably be better spent at the Bethesda or Bioware forums. 2. I'd rather assume i'll love it than hate it for now. I'm an optimist. Plus i'm defending it just because everyone else seems to be criticising it, and I love the series.

And that's all I am, a fan...albeit an enthusiastic one. I am willing to accept any obvious flaws the game has after I play it, but not before. I reserve judgement based from my pov and not that written through the pov of others. If the game is bad I will complain, mark my words......

Once again, you seem to think that creating a thread gives you ownership of what is posted in the thread. As a fan of the DN series I want to hear everyone's opinion, good or bad, about the game . . . I might want to buy it. I don't really need to hear you defend the game, one that you have not yet played, every time someone posts negative comments.

Stonebro has brought up some good points for discussion, many of which I agree with it seems. I have no problem with you insisting that it is a great game, your valid opinion, one shared by others as well. Opinions that are in conflict with yours are also valid and don't require your rebuttal for each one.

Why not let the discussion continue without insisting everyone who has a negative opinion has come to an invalid conclusion? I get your point of view . . . I just don't care to hear it repeated over and over and over and over . . .

Thing is most every post has been bad....not good. It's a bit lopsided really. I don't mind the criticisms but that's mostly all there's been.......I can count the number of good views of the game literally on my fingers and toes.

I feel it's within my right to rebutt comments of others if I have a counterpoint to them, just as it's their right to post those opinions.

I am just offering my opinions on other's opinions. If you don't like it then ignore them and don't post to the thread, stay ontopic and post regularly if you want, or start your own thread as you said. No one is forcing you to post in here.

If every post is bad it might just mean that the game is a fail . . . nothing more . . . nothing less.

If every other post is going to be your defense of the game than it might be worth it to someone to create another thread for a full discussion of the game . . . it's just not that important to me.

I don't agree in full....I think the vocal minority is just disproportionatly dissing the game while those who like the game are currently off playing it. Yes some are valid criticisms but not every single one...and some are outright DNF bashing for the sake of bashing in how they're worded.

And btw I like criticisms as much as the next guy.....but how many here against the game actually played it? That's what I want to know....:\

I have to agree. I finished playing this 2 days ago and it's terrible. I would like to add that i am a big fan of the original duke and really wanted to like this game, which is why i went and bought it before reading any review, which was a big mistake. It really is a mess.

If it is a mess I will concur. I haven't played it yet so I still have yet to get a good feel for it. All in all if alot say it's good it doesn't mean it's good to everyone...and the same goes for those who say it's bad. I think everyone should judge for themselves in the end either way.

I'm actually a bit tired of that excuse. While it may work for some RPGs cause of the longevity, the replay value, it does not work for a linear FPS which has a 8-10 hour single player. It's been released 4 days ago, 2 of those were Saturday/Sunday. So plenty of time for most people to finish it even a couple of times and post their opinions, good or bad. So I call BS on "those who like the game are currently off playing it."

Plenty. Considering YOU haven't played it and yet think it's perfectly acceptable for you to post your so called opinions every second post on this topic, don't you think it's a bit hypocritical for you to ask that question. While some may not have played it and are in the same situation as you, there are plenty who have played the game and, unlike you, actually have a leg to stay on when bashing or defending the game.
