Kabuto: Where do I get this phobos map pack?
avatar
GameRager: Just go to moddb.com and search the Doom3 section for phobos. Basically you play the marine on Phobos(or deimos?) after the teleport experiments go wrong and you gotta clean house. It's kinda a map pack based on how the events played out in the original Doom 1 game, sort of.
All I keep finding is that the phobos mod isn't finished and unavailable. I can't find any standalone phobos maps.

stonebro: It's safe to say that Gearbox have hit the jackpot here when people are not only preordering the game without seeing a single gameplay video, but preordering $100 ultra-collector's editions.

Then again, Gearbox did make Borderlands.

Oh and,eh, yeah. Preordered. With priority international shipping and perhaps import tax on top the price will come to about $160. :P
The bigger issue I have is that they still haven't released the system requirements as far as I can tell. Border lands wasn't bad by the time I got it, but from what I gather there were a lot of bugs at launch.

From what I've gathered the base requirements aren't that high, but apparently people have reported some performance issues on the X360 version. I'm just hoping we'll get the demo within the next two months.

I got a copy of borderlands from Steam, so I should be getting a copy of the demo when it comes out, but I think that if they haven't decided on the system requirements at this point, that something isn't quite right. I'm not really sure how much optimization they could possibly be applying now that's going to cause significant change. They really should be at the QA stage.
meh... I'll wait for the "eat shit and die" edition.

Seriously though, even considering how useless that package most certainly is... *drool* want want want. :)

Borderlands runs like ass for me because of the dynamic shadows. I am not alone, it is a somewhat common problem. Not sure what the deal is really... I have a GTX 480 and a quad processor. With dynamic shadows off I get 60fps locked at all times, with them on I get 20-30fps. Drives me nuts.

I hope Duke doesn't suffer the same issue on my hardware, that would suck.
Preordered it on shopto.net. I frikking deserve one after so many years of waiting :). Duke's bust goest on my desk at work without arguing. Frikking A!
Nevermind, I found a shop that had one for PC.

Not sure what your original question was exactly but wow, I just noticed the Balls of Steel version for PC seems to be sold out already on amazon.
avatar
GameRager: Well it WAS a reboot of the franchise so it's not SUPPOSED to be like the old games beyond storyline/setting/etc. It did have some fine points though, including all the mods made for it like The Dark Mod and the phobos mappack.
I read "Phobos" and all that came to mind was "Leather Goddesses of".

GameRager: ZIs Gamestop still selling it?
I don't know, why don't you check?

Yeah, Amazon listed it as "Unavailable". Got it at GameStop though. Probably one of the last ones, too.

Unavailable just means sold out (or canceled). I have a Balls of Steel pre-order in on amazon and my order is fine. Dragon Age 2 Signature Edition shows "unavailable" as well.

If you would rather use amazon keep an eye out, with Starcraft 2's CE they ran out in a couple days but then had more later.

I know what it means. And the Starcraft 2 CE's probably came back because some whiny 12 year olds (in spirit, obviously. They couldn't place orders if they were actually 12. Although that story with that English kid using his mum's card on XBL has me wondering) found out about the DRM and cancelled their orders.

Canceled orders might have something to do with it but I also bet they get a certain promise of getting so many copies, but then closer to launch their allotment might go up.

It's a really good sign the PC version sold out so fast... we might see really strong PC sales for this game. I bet a lot of people like my father-in-law are old-school PC gamers who don't buy much anymore but will come out of the woodwork for more Duke.

Edit: And now the Xbox edition is sold out as well on amazon. Gearbox made a very good choice in getting the rights to this.
