I put this here because noone seems to read Duke boards.

I'm trying the eDuke32 since it has gotten high praise but I'm unable to play for some reason.
The game starts nicely, but I cannot seem to get focus set on the application!
To be more precise, I can get the application to be the current one and the topmost but it does not respond to keyboard or mouse events.

I have WIndows XP and Microsoft Wireless Desktop 3000.

Can anyone help me?
Do you have a firewall that might be preventing the game from detecting your keyboard strokes?

Thanks for the tip, have to try that, but why would a firewall prevent keystrokes in a local application? I use Comodo firewall.

Ah. That might be your problem. Comodo blocks programs from accessing certain key functions of the computer (don't know the exact term) if you don't allow it full access i.e. it only runs in the sandbox.
Thanks a million! That worked! You are the best of the bestest!
