Let's do the time warp again*!

Welcome to our [url=http://www.gog.com]DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! Fasten your seatbelts and prepare for a fascinating ride to the early days of PC gaming and back again, with 30 excellent titles selected from the years 1983-2013, available up to 90% off (that is for as little as $0.59!). You'll find amazing games in amazing prices featured one by one on GOG.com main page, and before the sale is done you'll be able to complete your very own display of gaming history on a budget below $65 (because this would be the cost to get every single game in the sale). Are you ready?

<iframe width="590" height="322" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/6_uC01QztBg?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

There's more than just buying games incredibly cheap to our DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! We're ready to pass its steering wheel (or rather the control console) to YOU. Each game in the sale is offered for a limited time only, and how long we stay in its year is up to you! Each time you see a new game on sale you can vote to either add or subtract 1 second from the timer. Each time you buy a game, you add 3 seconds to the time of it being on sale. We begin with 1983's Zork, bundled with the rest of the Zork Anthology of 6 games in total, for only $1.79. How long will it last on the front page? You'll be the judge. What comes next, as the game of 1984? Let's find out!

Let's take a trip in GOG.com's DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! 30 great games from 1983-2013 will be available up to 90% off, and you get to decide how long each game is on sale. Ready? The technomagical gateway to 1983 opens NOW!

* "Again?", you might ask, "when did they ever do the time warp?". Well, once you embark on a journey through time, all becomes relevant and there's absolutely no guarantee that what you are doing, you are doing for the first time. In fact, that's highly improbable. After all, time isn't linear. It's more like a giant wobbly-bobbly goggy-boggy ball of gaming awesome!

DeViLzzz2011: Very disappointed in the way this sale is being run. No way I am staying up 24 hrs just to see what games there are. Also quite frankly considering what people pay in Humble bundles and various other bundles a game like Rayman Forever should be less than a dollar. In regards to games already that were on sale I might have been interested in Carmageddon but uh no because I decided to be normal and sleep I miss out. Thanks GOG .... for nothing so far.
So pick a year, estimate when you think it will be on sale and check in. Nobody says you have to watch every minute of the progress bar.

I've never seen Rayman Forever in a humble bundle, besides, you pay more than a dollar for most of the bundles anyway - usually with other games you don't necessarily want to play. You never get individual games for their average price.

If you want, imagine that Rayman Forever is in a GOGBundle with twelve other games for $1.50. I'd like to see HB beat that.

stg83: Well I am afraid you've been sleeping for a long time in your cryogenic chamber, its 2014 now. :P

gamefood: Welcome to the FUTURE amarokster! :) How was your ride on the 'time machine'?
I feel like no time at all has passed, but I will take my rip van winkle nap as an excuse to play enough games to make up for the lost time. :)

For the people asking about Rayman, I've played on both a controller and keyboard! It's a lot smoother/more intuitive on a controller, but it's fine to play through on a keyboard! Plus you can blame the many, many, many frustrating deaths you will experience on the keyboard. You also can and should go back to older levels! You'll find yourself doing this when you need to scrounge up extra lives and after you gain new powers.

shmargin: Well damn, I missed space quest? And now we're in the late 90s, which is sort of an ugly portion of gaming in a lot of ways.
Beautiful 3D squares *_*

There are some decent games though

1999:

outcast
silver
king of dragon pass
dungeon keeper 2
rollercoaster tycoon
system shock 2
MM7
Soul reaver

and more..

i'd bet on outcast or system shock 2

IAmSinistar: Well, first off, Diablo wasn't groundbreaking to anyone who had already played a roguelike game. Whereas Tomb Raider catapulted game characters into celebrities. I enjoyed Diablo more myself, but in terms of overall social impact, it's hard to argue against Tomb Raider for that year.

Regardless, GOG is entirely correct to pursue a sale like this, whether or not they can draw on what every person considers to personally be the most significant game of a given year. They are highlighting their catalogue, not attempting to produce the absolute list to stand for all time.
Diablo should have been been the highlighted game instead of Tomb Raider? We need more magic!!! ;-P

Unfortunately, you just cannot estimate. I mean, you can't estimate AT ALL when some games go for 30 minutes while others for 3 hours and 30 minutes!

I actually don't have an issue with you - I am bummed that I missed Zork Antology - and I had NO way of knowing or estimating that one, since it was the first game in the list!!!!!! >:(

Yes, and the game for 1994 should have been the first System Shock. WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU, GOG?!

For starters, they don't have the first System Shock in their catalog...

(I know, it's not their fault. Still a glaring omission, right up there with TIE Fighter. <_<)

Just spreading a little post-holiday cheer ;) It's a shame they won't likely run a second or third cycle like the insomnia sale. Give those that missed out a second/third chance.

Yes indeed, it was only because of the second and third cycle that I was able to get The Witcher 2 during the insomnia sale, but it was a long wait to get there. :)
