the_redstar_swl: For what it's worth, A lot of the time it's easier to list stuff that includes something, instead of listing everything under the sun that doesn't have it.
Unless the site the games are on is a form of DRM itself.

eyeball226: Forgive me, but I don't see a list of DRM free games.

OmegaX: That site only lists steam games with third party DRM. The OP is asking for games sold on Steam that bypass the client.
That's what I was pointing out. I understood the OP, I was just trying to bring that to the attention of the_redstar_swl politely.

Or in other words, if the game isn't on the list, it probably doesn't have 3rd party DRM.
The thread is about DRM-free games on Steam, not ones that only have Steam DRM.

Alpha Protocol can be run without Steam being active. Possibly a fuckup due to a patch though

Well it would make sense there. I got Alpha Protocol on DVD, and they patched the game to completely remove DRM from the disc version, no activation or disc checks or anything. Guessing that falls rather well in line with it not needing steam either.

Of course if there are steam achievements you don't get them when not on steam, but if they're in the game, then you shouldn't assume it's purely because they forgot to handle steam on the steam version.

WhoKnowscs: (like the Lucasarts adventure games-extract a file and it works fine with scummvm or source ports where only data files are needed).

asb: Do you have a link for running The Dig, Loom, and Indiana Jones from Steam on scummvm?
https://github.com/symm/LAAExtract

Extract.py is a python script. Run it in the folder with the game binary. It will give you the file that is bundled in the game executable. SCUMMvm will see the game as the dos versions.

As for the SCUMMvm people not supporting the remakes . . . True official support wasn't added. But each game executable has the missing file stuck in it and as stated above the data files are all the same as the dos version. Although . . . LOOM is an exception since the audio file is a proprietary ripped format so it has no sound.

And yes I was referring to games that didn't even need STEAM.
why not just buy the game from steam and then download a cracked copy?

... only if it's not a steam exclusive then I suggest skipping the part where you pay steam and buy from someone else.

Thanks for the link. I'd done a quick search before but hadn't managed to find this.
