An example of simpler rulesets.

Free PDF file. The actual rules are 8 pages, the rest are optional rules, setting ideas, and so on.
lowyhong, if you want simple rules, try FATE. It is even free, or at least it was as far as I know. Though the players can alter the storytelling to a degree, so it may be too demanding for people who let the DM do all the work.

Are there any good settings/campaigns you'd recommend? I don't mind modifying rules and settings, but I'm rather lazy to sit down and draw out my own campaigns from scratch.
Not really, but if you don't want to create much, what about using some interesting videogame setting and story? Maybe change a thing here and there or just change perspective or something.
Their summer sale may be over, but they're now selling Legend - based off the Runequest rule set - at only $1. Usual price is $20!

Does it have the Duck race like Runequest? Because I'm not giving it the time of day, otherwise. :P

Oh no sorry there isn't one specified. This is more of a generic ruleset I think, for use with custom fantasy settings.

Hm, I might get that, actually. I like percentile systems more than d20, because it makes more sense (after all, d20 is basically just percentile divided by 5) and it allows more of a gradient of successes, if you know what I mean.
The setting was part of the hilarity of Runequest, though. It was Roman fantasy, but for some reason bipedal Ducks were a playable race. And I played one. And got turned into a vampire. It was ridiculous. :D
If it helps, Legend is fully compatible with previous Runequest campaigns. I hear it's more like a streamlined version of Runequest.

Sounds like something that'd be good to run. I've played the original version of Runequest a few times and it could definitely do with some streamlining. It may have been that the book was weirdly written, but character creation was confusing. And it felt like one of those systems where you have a billion tiny skills to put points into that don't do anything. So yeah, this looks promising. Hard to go wrong with that price anyway.
One of the staff members, Sean, just left DTRPG to pursue his ambition as a game creator. He has set up a group called Evil Beagle Games that, for a few dollars, will provide customers with the service of designing custom games based on the Savage Worlds ruleset. Looks interesting.
