TheCheese33: The same argument could be made for Street Fighter IV (Any way you slice it, fighters are terrible to play on a keyboard), yet people don't seem to mind paying for that. Also, most PC gamers have a controller or two set aside for their PC. Doesn't matter if the game itself supports it, as long as it has analog and the right number of buttons, you can Pinnacle it.

For fighters you need a controller. No exceptions. That has nothing to do with the port, but rather the nature of the game.
A third person shooter however you can expect to work properly with mouse and keys, as they offer much better speed and precision than a controller.

That used to confuse me. Most fighting fans I know prefer buttons they can press while standing up, tapping them rapidly. A keyboard sounds like it should logically work. But then you completely forget about the fighting stick, which is a must for 99.9% of fighters. The controller is a perfect substitute, but WASD or the directional keys are not.

Exactly. Only I'm a lefty so I get the far more convenient arrow keys instead.

Wishbone: No, I am not exaggerating, I am describing my impression of the game. My opinion, if you will. It is subjective, as all such things are, and there really isn't much more to say about it. It's certainly useless arguing about it.

Well, if no one debated opinions and subjective comments, forums would not exist.

I disagree.

Hahaha... well, you're right of course, there are many reasons to use a forum other than sharing and comparing opinions on games. Tech support, mod seeking, what-have-you.
I guess my point was simply that saying "well it's subjective so you can't call me on it" is kind of silly. If I think something is an exaggeration, like saying Gears of War's PC controls are so terrible it's hard to play the game, I am going to say it is an exaggeration. That's a debate... opinion based? Sure, but we have opinion based debates all the time in society... a retort is not to point that out, but to further clarify one's point.
Well I have to say that it took me a while to adjust to the way Gears played, the controls felt a bit weird and heavy until I adapted to them, I suppose I was just used to the floating ball hovering 2 metres above the ground feeling that most FPS' give you

Very well, if you insist. Perhaps my comparison was bad. I didn't actually mean that it was hard, just unpleasant. I didn't find the game difficult, just annoying. The controls felt awkward, not just because they were different from what I was used to, but because they were too limiting and too simplistic for my taste. Another comparison I've used at times is that it felt like playing table hockey. You know, the kind where the players slide back and forth along predefined grooves in the board.
StingingVelvet, sorry I was being a bit tongue-in-cheek there when I said "I disagree".
I was actually supporting your perspective... :)

I felt that way playing Prince of Peria (2008)... like more of a rhythm game than a true action game. I never got that feeling from Gears though... they always had enemies running at you to force you to change cover positions, and they had some sections where it was more run and gun.
