Does anyone put them in a folder for backup? Would this be a simple way to backup games as opposed to backing up the entire game folder itself? Thanks.
I think you're asking about the GOG Downloader installer? If so, backing it up won't back up your games installers at all. If you really need a backup (no internet, servers are down, etc), the installer won't do you any good.
No I was talking about the installers when you download a game not with the GOG Downloader. It's the file that appears in your Downloads library under Computer just like Documents, and Music does.

I do backup installers. Since the GOG Downloader is instructed by default to download everything in a single folder (it makes a subfolder for each game, containing the game installer + bonus content), they're all in the same place from the start, and I can easily copy that folder onto an external HDD for further preservation.

You could do something like this by keeping the installers, say, in a "GOG Setup" folder and making a backup of it whenever you want.

Okay Thanks Ynk! Yeah I was talking about Game Installers that appear in your Downloads library under my computer. I have not used the GOG Downloader that downloads all parts of a game and bonus content into one convenient download.
Ah, OK. I see what you mean now.

Then yes, backing up the game installers is as simple as copying the installer to your external hard drive or burning to a DVD. You can also put them up in cloud storage, etc, just like any other files. DRM-free is great. :D

You do know you can tell your browser to ask you where to put each file you download, right? If I put all downloaded files in a single folder, I wouldn't be able to find anything I'd downloaded except by sheer blind dumb luck.

For instance, all my GOG installers go onto my data drive in the folder Install/Games/GOG.com/[Game name].
