This program was here: http://theunusualsuspect.com/software/process but the site has been down for a long time. I once had this program, but I lost it. The thing fixed a ton of games for me and I am wondering if anyone still has it. I remember that it was mentioned on the Prince of Persia forms as a fix for sands of time. I remember it fixing some others, like Unreal 2. I'd be good if some one can post it here.

According to the copy of that site stored in the Wayback Machine, that utility works by "using as much CPU power as it can". You could try right clicking the process in Task Manager and setting affinity so that the game only uses one CPU and see if that solves the problem as well. If it does, your CPU will thank you.

Sounds like a similar program I used to help get past a bit in Grim Fandango where with a faster processor you'd get stuck on the conveyor belt. Worked really well as well as for someone else I recommended it to who got stuck on the same bit.

@Drennan, Setting processor affinity does not work in some cases. This program always worked. It does not do the same thing

On another forum someone described Process.EXE as: CPUKiller allows you to max out your CPU load, making games run at a normal speed for them so worth a shot even if it does it in a different way,

Failing that you could try getting in touch with this guy who claims to of created Process.EXE (if they aren't still active on that forum, their username turns up other profiles on Google where they might be more recently active)

That bug was really annoying, it stopped me from finishing Grim Fandango for a long time. The official patch (that came out MONTHS later) fixed that particular bug, though, so you shouldn't have to do process shenanigans for that anymore. Getting GF to install on modern OSes is kinda tricky, though.

Oh, thats cool, didn't know that. Still I guess the patch doesn't work for everyone (on another forum it seems some still experienced the glitch). And some dedicated Grim Fandango fansites seem to tell people to use CPUKiller if the patch doesn't work.

Edit: I found that this program is hardwired to run BGE.exe
Edit 2: Renaming an executable to BGE.exe causes the program to crasing

I'd like to get that program too. Used it for Postal 2 and would like to try Deus Ex: Invisible War with it.

If limiting the process to use one CPU only wasn't enough, another tool you could try is Battle Encoder Shirase. You can throttle CPU usage per process with it.

Alternatively, if the problem is caused by the processor switching power states while playing, you can create a power plan(1) in which you set minimum and maximum processor states to the same value and switch to that plan when you want to play the game.

(1) In Windows 7, Control Panel -> Power Options -> Create a power plan -> Select High performance and give your plan a name -> Create, then, once you're back at the "Select a power plan" screen, click "Change plan settings" for your freshly created plan, click "Change advanced power settings", and under Processor power management, set the same value for "Minimum processor state" and "Maximum processor state".
