I always had ideas to write stories, but never got around to do it... maybe after I retire :D.
I don't write that much fiction. But I write poetry from time to time (for each major celebration, actually) Mostly humorous stuff making fun of my colleagues. :-)

DieRuhe: Like, fiction-type stuff? Or know of any good places online for "non-professionals" to post and discuss their works? I don't really feel like making a blog. I don't really know too many people, but I wouldn't mind getting feedback from strangers.
Got a MA in Writing (with distinction even if that helps) and used to teach Creative Writing; best bet is to not look online IMO. Discussing writing is always better with whoever comments present, and best in a group, really. Spur of the moment discussion on top of prepared response (people need to read what is discussed) generates way better overall feedback.

There's bound to be local groups. Or if not, set one up. Most important aspect of a good writing group is that people are committed to it - professionally or not - so it'll take a while, usually.

There once was a guy named Lifthrasil
Who had an affair with the mighty Yggdrasil
They went to the dance
But out of happenstance
His feet had turned into basil.

Hey, Lifthrasil is hard to rhyme okay? I'm not even sure I'm pronouncing it right. :P

There was once a poster named Shaolin_Skunk
Who wrote a Limerick while being quite drunk
But he found no rhyme
To Lifthrasil on time
So the poem turned out to be only junk.

;-)

But yes, Yggdrasil is a good rhyme. It even comes from the same mythology as my name. :-)

jamyskis: TinyE, how many times have I told you? Get your ass to the toilet if you need to take a dump!

On topic: I'm actually a non-fiction writer (technical documentation, legal, games manuals and boxprint etc.) so I'm not really going to be much help in this regard, but I've been giving serious thought to the whole fiction gig. Problem is, it's not the eloquence I'm lacking - it's the ideas.
Heh, I'm exactly the opposite. I have plenty ideas, but my writing is too condensed/technical. I'll write about 10 pages, read over it, and start over out of disgust.
If you're writing spec-fic (SF, fantasy or horror), check out Critters. It was a nice critique group which I found helpful. Haven't used it for years, and at that time it had newsgroups (remember those?) at sff.net. Now it looks like there are forums listed but with no working links, don't know what the deal is.

tinyE: I'm being serious
You sick bastard! Well, considering what you post on the forums I can only presume that you're writing some really filthy insane stuff. And I want to read it! O_O
