Weclock: i got a wii, the only games i have ever played on it and would consider playing again was either wii sports which comes with the game, or Pokemon Puzzle League, which is a virtual console title.

michaelleung: But of course, your kids play the Wii more than you do.
No actually, the Xbox 360 is the console of choice around here, we watch Netflix on it all the time.
The Wii disappointed me. I grew up with Nintendo and SNES and I kept hoping they would grow up with me. Unfortunately, Nintendo seems too focused for games for teenagers/tweens and party gamers. Sure, the Wii might have like 5 titles that may be for the mature gamer but when you can get the same title on a different console with more power why the hell would you want it on a Wii?
My thoughts when I looked through the Wii's catalogue...
"looks too kiddie.....platformer....platformer.....surprise! another platformer.....Zelda #9000, Mario 10,000,000.......too many bright freaky colors that we will never see in nature unless someone blows up a neon paint factory.......gay.....gayer.....oh my god just touching this game is infecting me with fail....screw this I am going back to the PC section....."

Bu the thing is that you can't get those games on other consoles, you can't get No More Heroes, you can't get Deadly Creatures, Mad World, Tenchu SA. Yes, I agree that the library is lacking, but for some reason this last month I have really wanted a Wii. If anything it's the games in the other systems that I can get on PC, ie. Mirror's Edge, Dead Space, etc... And most of console exclusives I don't really care for, with obvious exceptions such as Little Big Planet or something like that. I don't even know why I bother talking about it, it's not like I have nearly enough money to buy anything new :( I still love my PS2 and feel like there's a tonne of games for cheap that I haven't gotten.

Not enough good exclusives, in my opinion, that would warrant me spending money on the console. Madworld is the only one I am interested in and I hope it goes to other consoles with superior firepower. Sure, they may not a have Wiimote and Nunchuck combo (which is a very intuitive and mostly fluid control scheme by the way) but the other 2 consoles and PC have far more exclusives that are better suited for me, perhaps others as well, than the Wii has at this time. I sincerely wish Nintendo would just grow the hell up and leave the casual kiddie gaming genres to companies like Pop-Cap and others of that particular vein. I am not asking for deeply involved and branching RPGs with choice and consequence just oozing from its very DVD because I don't expect that from a console. What I am asking for are games, or a greater selection thereof, that one could relate its content and storyline, if one is included. I have no interest in being a teenager that runs around, whacks odd looking creatures on the head with his Magical Sword of Swordy Magic or anything else that the Wii currently has.
We have a Wii and we love it. However, to put this in perspective, we have two kids (aged 6 and 10) and my wife isn't interested in PC gaming. I prefer the PC and don't really enjoy console games. But the Wii fills a niche that we all seem to enjoy (even my wife) due to the type of games on it and the fact that we generally all play together.
If you're a hardcore PC gamer and/or console gamer, the Wii is likely not the way to go. But, as others noted, it does seem to fill a niche for certain gaming tastes.
I have played nintendo games since I was about 4, which started with the NES and have owned every nintendo console up until the gamecube. The gamecube was okay, but I simply didn't like the lack of online multiplayer and eventually it had what seemed like a very short console cycle, so I went to Xbox and PS2 about two years later.
Went I decided to go into the next generation, I didn't want a Wii, because i didn't want it to turn out like the gamcube(short game cycle). My brother got one though and I played it a decent amount. It is a great console for party games and for casual gamer (and no that is not a bad thing). Overall it wasn't for me.
I eventually went with the Xbox 360 and have had a great time playing it. About a year ago I would have said buy a 360, but now that PS3 is gathering steam I would recommed most gamers to get a PS3. They are finally getting great games and their online market is definately way better than it was last year.
I believe this is going to be a very long console cycle, so if you want a constant stream of great games I would put my money on PS3 or even the 360. The Wii seems to not be pushing quality software at the moment, but who knows it could change.

Yeah, the way I see it is, I don't have a problem with Nintendo filling in that gap, why should we want the people that enjoy that kind of stuff to not have games that suit them? And if you don't like that style, you can always go with a PS3 or 360, the more variety the better the way I see it.
I've always just gone with the rule of 'go where the games you want are'. Thats the reason I have a 360 and PC and thats it, there might be 1-2 things on the wii I'd be interested in but mostly to see how the remote thing would work with them, one game on the DS/PSP and theres a grand total of 1 game (which isn't even out yet) on PS3 I'm interested in that isn't also available for the 360. That basically means to play Heavy Rain when it finally comes out, it'd end up costing me about au$800 which is a BIT too much for one game, no matter how cool it looks
Heavy Rain does look sick, I agree.
It is definately good that there are choices. Somedays I don't want to shoot stuff, I want to do something else. The shooter market right now is flooded. I don't like going to the store and not being able to find a decent game that is not a FPS. I think that they are now moving a little bit away from shooters and I like that. Games on PSN, XboxLive Marketplace, and the Wii market place definately have helped get a little away from those and add variety.
