jcoa: I guess this means GoG will never see a Star Wars game released here.
LucasArts also has Curse for Monkey Island, The Dig, Indiana Jones, Day of the Tentacle, Full Throtle, Grim Fandango, and Sam & Max. Lots of games that have been petitioned for GoG for quite awhile.
I, for one, welcome this. Can't be any worse than what Lucas has done to the Star Wars franchise, not to mention anything else he puts his name on.

Not saying they should do it with episode 7, but would love to see the Timothy Zahn trilogy in movie form one day.

rodrolliv: So apparently Disney now owns Pixar, Marvel, ESPN, ABC, and Star Wars. Next stop, EA or Activision I guess.
Maybe they should start buying countries now.

There are some in Europe that are quite cheap right now.
I am with the camp that says that Star Wars has already been ruined and can't get any worse.
It's it funny how the article states that fans are outraged about Lucas having become a sell-out. IIRC the guy secured all the merchandise rights for himself while working on the first movie which suggests that he has been more interested in creating a profitable franchise than great movies since the very beginning.

Also agree with some others here - after the butt fucking he did to his own franchise it can't get any worse after Disney's takeover.

You make a great point, history shows that Lucas has shown a greater interest in making money off toys and licensing than actually making films. Not that there is anything inherently wrong with that, I have enjoyed many Lucasfilm/Arts toys and games.

So have I. It's just weird though that most LucasArts games treat the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises with more respect than Lucas himself. I mean, Tie-Fighter and Jedi Knight feel more like part of the film series than the prequel trilogy does. How crazy is that?

ET3D: Wow! I never expected the Spanish Inquisition!

The good thing is, I think they will make a new Star Wars better than Lucas can. The big question is, what will happen to all the adventure game IP?

mrmarioanonym: They will make it all childfriendly.
If they make it as child friendly as Avengers I'm okay with that.

I hope they buy my country, I'll gladly wear a goofy suit all day if the money's good!

LOL, he's always been a sellout.

Lucasfilm hasn't produced anything decent since Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and what was that? 1984/85? So no great loss there.

Then again, I never buy anything Disney related either (they're a pseudo-cult) so won't be watching any more Star Wars movies that's for sure.

And this deal will pretty much kiss bye-bye to Grim Fandango, Monkey Island etc. Disney certainly isn't going to bother with GOG.
I don't know how about you guys, but I'd rather have first two original trilogies and nothing new anymore, than new movies from Disney like Tron 2, Prince of Persia or the newest Pirates of the Caribbean. These movies were godawful.

That's good to know, I hadn't gotten around to seeing any of those films. Were they really worse that the prequel trilogy? I didn't think that was possible.

They also made the iron man films, Avengers, Thor...

actually no they aren't bad at all they just don't live up to what they could have been, Prince is a decent action film if you ignore the godawful accent. Pirates is a good adaptation of on stranger tides and Tron2 had too much story set up made up for with some great set pieces (it's one of those better in 3d films) tbh Tron just suffered from middle of trilogy syndrome.

The Avengers had the stupidest plot in the universe, even as a superhero movie.
Thor was mediocre.
Iron Man movies were good.

First two "Pirates" movies are ok.
