Disciples: Sacred Lands Gold

Disciples 2 Gold

Want? Mortis again calls on me to spread the Disciples gospel.

What do you have to do to win?

1. Share (with the forum; reply to this thread) a link to a favorite work of art (or attach a preview-sized version of a favorite work of art to your reply). The linked art may be of any type of visual media (a painting, a sketch or drawing, a photograph, a sculpture, comic book art, digital art, a tattoo, a symbol, etc). It need not be published, famous, etc.

Be sure to include the names of the artist(s) and work if known. If the art contains nudity or other not-safe-for-work content, please be sure to note NSFW in your post.

2. Send me a private message containing your e-mail or post it here in the format: username(at)xmail(dot)com (so that I can gift you the game if you win).

3. Indicate whether you want to enter the drawing for Sacred Lands, the drawing for Disciples 2, or both drawings. Each game will be drawn separately, but it is possible to win both drawings.

What are the rules?

1. One entry maximum per drawing per forum member.

2. No repeated works - if someone has already posted one of your favorite works, choose another favorite if you want to be eligible for the drawing.

If you already have both games but would like to share a work of art anyway, please do so but be sure to mention that you aren't entering the drawing in your post.

The contest will run for up to seven days. The winners will be chosen at random from all entrants.

I'll get us started this time around with a favorite comic book cover: Marvel Preview No. 12 The Haunt of Horror (see attachment; artist is Earl Norem). The style, the colors, the body shape, the campy horror presentation, it all just appeals to me. Love it. :-)

This is for Disciples 1: Sacred lands

Artist: Rene Magritte
Title: The Lovers

This is my favourite painting of all times. So meaningful, so mysterious, so emotional.

This is actually a screenshot I took from a movie. The movie is simply named "Moon". It tells a tale of a one man Helium-3 mining operation on the moon. A rare good movie I think. One of the best sci-fi in years. Don't read any spoilers! Just watch it!

I use this pic for my PC desktop from time to time. The image sparks my imagination. What an amazing thing it would be to be working on the moon. Then take pause to survey the lunarscape and see the Earth suspended brilliantly in the sky.

Entry for both drawings please

Thanks for including hyperlinks to the games.

When this was painted back in 2008 I feel it was misunderstood. Now however it's prophetic qualities shine through. This could have been painted last week as a topical work. Instead it was painted almost three years prior to that which it depicts.

It should be noted that this is being shared for the sake of sharing and is not an entry.

LoL what the heck is up with the tacos and underwear?!

I'm glad this country of mine is once again working closely with it's southern neighbor. Among Many reasons... if we must outsource our manufacturing, and I wish our cost of living didn't make this so, I'd prefer most of it go to Mexico than China. Imagine the fuel consumed to ship all those widgets and baubles from China to the US. The petroleum savings would be enormous.
Title: Tatoo
Artist Name: Bluefooted (I could never find her real name)

This piece by her is probably one of my all-time favorite pieces of artwork.

I'll enter in for Disciples 2 Gold.

Good entries all around! Be sure that I have your e-mail address so that I can gift you the game if you win. I delete the list of entrants after each contest, so you'll need to provide your e-mail even if you've entered one of my previous drawings. PM me or post here in format shown in the OP.

@yankowich83: Your link doesn't work for me (entered in contest anyway; no worries), but I've seen and enjoyed Royo's work before. Fantastic stuff, often beautiful and monstrous at once.

@Detlik: That is beautiful. Simple, but I very much like it, too.

Yes! Impressive work, I like it. :-)
This is "Innocent Shadow" by Mark Stone. Done in Pov-Ray.

Here's the back story: "In elementary school I learned shadows were burned into stone and wood by the atomic bombs dropped at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The haunting images of people's shadows, recording the instant of their deaths, had a great impact on me. When I read the new IRTC stills topic, the idea of a nuclear shadow as a "Frozen Moment" came to me instantly."

I'd like both drawings please :)

Bump for the morning crowd.

Also, as usual, it's likely that I won't be online much during the first half of the week, so don't let a lack of response to new entrants fool ya: keep 'em coming! :-)
I have both Disciples games already, but I thought I'd pitch in a painting I like just for sharing.

I saw it when I went to the Art Gallery of Ontario.

Unfortunately, the small picture here doesn't do it justice; The actual painting is very big and at full size, I found myself staring at it for like 10 minutes in awe.

And no, I'm not a pyromaniac :).
