I think you people might be interested about this.
The same guy who ported Death Rally to run in modern Windows machines has been at it again, now in more general purpose. He's done some direct draw based hacking in order to make older windows games run better in modern os's. This should at least make Wing Commander games from 1 to 4 run better.
I haven't tried this yet, but I thought I'd inform you as well.
