I need to make some room on my computer for more games! I did a search for files that about half a gig and more, and it pulled up all my recently downloaded Setup.exe's from all the games I got during this holiday sale. I just got them, so naturally I want room for them so I can play them... but can I delete those setup files? Is that what the GoG Downloader deletes when you ask it to clear the dl from the disc or does it clear the game?

Thank you!
I'm not sure about the downloader, but if it doesn't delete them for you, just navigate to the appropriate folder and delete the setup files as well as any corresponding .bin files.

The only reason to keep the set up files is in case GOG is down for a bit and to save bandwidth if you want to reinstall later.

You can, but GOG is not an archiving service. You should think about burning your games to disk. That's the point of no DRM:)

Just so there is no confusion you don't necessarily HAVE to, games will be availible for download for as long as GoG is around. And when you delete setups via downloader nothing happens to already installed game, it only deletes the setup so don't worry.
Be careful; sometimes the setup program is also the uninstaller, and just discarding the setup program will make it impossible to uninstall cleanly.

I believe GOG's builds use separate uninstallers (look for a file called unins000.exe or something like that).
Thanks for all the infos!

Really? I've never heard this before. I always toss my setup files on an external drive and delete them off my laptop.

Naah, uninstallers are in game folders; nothing to do with setup files.

Some uninstallers actually rerun the setup file.

Usually, the setup file is copied to an uninstall folder, which is well buried in the Registry, when this is done.

Clarifying: InnoSetup (and as such, all GOGs, since GOG's installer is based on InnoSetup) use separate installers and uninstallers (so the installation package can be removed or moved at will). Most modern installers work similarly, other (mainly older) installers may use a different approach.

While the uninstallers verify the installation via registry (copy the installer to the game folder) like you said I don't remember any uninstaller asking for the setup file/cd/dvd.

I believe older MS installers required the original setup file.
