Looking for a group to play one of the D&D games online: Baldur's Gate 1 or 2, Icewind Dale, ect. We would vote on which game to play, a time, and go from there. All levels of experience are encouraged to join. This is supposed to be a fun experience making friends retro gaming.
That sounds like fun, I'd be down for it.
I like the idea you can count me in.
Sounds great. So far that's three, including me. An preferences on which game? Obviously we can continue the group and play different games if things go well. Post what games you have and we can vote from there. That way everyone gets a fair chance to vote.

How do you play it online, are there still servers?

When you play it online is it just basically the SP campaign with real people?

I think D&D the MMO is free to play nowadays, it may be an idea for you guys to try.

Probably vote Icewind Dale 1 or 2, since that seems to be the easiest for people to get into and the most fast paced.
Icewind Dale 1 or 2 sounds good. F1ach, most of the Black Isle games have a multiplayer option. I believe it is the single player campaign; the players can either play one character or multiple.

From what I’ve read on the forums some people have issues with the multiplayer. When we start we'll try the standard way. If that doesn't work there is a work around on the forum.

Since this is an older game, I don't believe it has a built in chat feature. How about using Skype to communicate in game? I'm up for using another service if preferred.
I really thought someone wanted to play DDO together:(
Sorry, perhaps I should have been clearer. However, It's not a bad idea.

I'd love to do that, actually.

More OT, I could be persuaded to play some IWD with people.
I'd like to play Ice wind Dale or Baldurs's Gate! I need some time though Work schedule is insane atm.

I tried it for awhile on two occasions, got a cleric up to about lv 8, but its pretty annoying as people plough through the quests really quickly, its like being on a conveyor belt, you cant really soak up any atmosphere. Unfortunately you cant solo it IIRC as you need eg a Rogue for traps etc.

In some MMO's we used to use "static" groups, where you only progressed together with questlines, so nobody got left behind, then different characters for grinding.

So I think the idea put forward here would be a good one and as IWD is pretty straight forward, it would be the easiest to progress through.

I dont think I would have the time personally and I'm in a totally different timezone anyway, but I hope it works out well for you guys :)

Woohoo, maybe I should make a post and people can download/get ready (since it takes some time).

I play DDO. I was looking for someone to play with for a while now.. maybe we should do a thread like this for it...
So, it sounds like Icewind Dale is the leader at this point. Shall we do a vote for 1 or 2?

Once we determine the game we can start working out a schedule. Sounds like we have players from many different time zones, i'm sure with a little effort, we can determine a time that works for everyone.

It also sounds like we have several interested in D&D online. Do we want to discuss doing both at different times?
