For those who don't know, Chief Gates was the primary inspiration for the 4th Police Quest game, taking it from being set in a fictional city, to going into the very real, gritty world of being an LAPD Homicide detective. He also had a helping hand in creating the SWAT series, which evolved into the SWAT 3 and 4 that we all know and love.
