The Dark Sun games are not freeware, merely "abandoned", i.e. not available for sale anywhere.
As for abandonware sites, I think Oldgames.sk had them at one point, but I didn't check recently. Possibly HOTUD as well. Or you can always check ebay (or cdaccess since you're in the States), used copies pop up all the time, plus they've been in at least a couple AD&D CD-ROM anthologies which means even more copies floating around.
