Maybe you decided to pick up Dark Fall: The Journal here on GOG. Excellent game, really should be played by anyone with the patience. I was browsing Just Adventure today to see if I could find what they thought of the latest Monkey Island episode, when I saw something; a new Dark Fall game returning to that train station! There was a second game before this, and in this new one, the visuals have went to "This kind of looks like Myst" to "Holy shit, now it looks like Myst IV (the best-looking Myst game before they screwed it all up by going 3D)!" And it's already out!
The price point may make you think twice about getting it right away at $29.99, but it's now on my "Must Eventually Acquire" list. It's on GamersGate and Impulse.

i got this preordered at amazon.co.uk. and at $29.99 no one interested in this game should have to hesitate.
First, good man. I'm starting to think people around here have no love for adventures unless it's comicky adventures like MI or S&M, so to hear someone else saying that The Journal is an 'excellent game' is a real pleasant surprise.
As for Lost Souls, it's next on my to buy list, regardless of price. I wonder what the Station Hotel will look like this time around. I'm just finishing up DAO, so i won't have to wait too long to find out ;)

Is this still Myst-style ie. 90 degrees x 4 slideshow? I might be getting the first DF on GOG soon, then maybe Lights Out after that

Sort of, but not quite. Instead of just jumping from frame to frame, it makes a smooth transition when turning. Also, when you're not moving around, the camera does a subtle bobbing motion. Here's a gameplay video I found on YouTube...

It looks like panoramic nodes...
Very nice. I love it, it really evokes a sense of fear. One thing I noticed though, the guy seemed to be having problem with the interface. I think he tried to open the box initially, but couldn't because he moved the mouse vertically instead of horizontally. Is this a big problem in the game? I like my adventure games to be polished, and this doesn't seem to be very polished.
PS. love the parts where player peeks through grilles and holes
Judging by the speed he's moving his cursor around trying to drag the lid of the box i'd say the problem isn't so much the interface. Maybe he should cut down on his coffee a bit...
I can't speak for the game's interface though, as i don't have it yet, but from that video, i can't see anything wrong with it.
