Bastei Lübbe bought 51% of Daedalic. Daedalic has now the option to produce new games with it's own capital. The old director and company founder will still be in place. For gog relevant: Old partnerships should also be untouched.

Bastei Lübbe is a book publisher, but I believe is now also active in other areas.

Maybe. Forgot to mention that Bastei-Lübbe wants to use franchises like Deponia or Edna also for other media like eBooks, Videos, Audo etc.

Humm. Not sure what to think of this. I do believe that Daedalic was in desperate need of changes. But I also think that the necessary changes may not come when the same people remain at the helm, because they are the ones that benefited most from the way the company was run ...

That... doesn't sound particularly exciting. Oh well, so long as I can ignore those spin-offs...

Didn't realised that Deponia 3 got an language update. So maybe I will buy it in a sale. Don't want to pay full price anymore...

Bastei Lübbe. Wow, that's a name I haven't heard in a while.

Considering that book publishers don't seem to be nearly as a-holish as video game publishers this should have a good effect on the company, maybe squeeze some good old morals into that yuppie den that Daedlic seems to have become.

Could the game splitting and price increases have anything to do with this?

Well seems that Bastei Lübbe wanted to expand their business area by getting into gaming and thus buying into an established (at least in Germany well known) developer studio and publisher. Maybe book publishing is not so safe these days, expanding into a business like games is probably a good decision. On the other hand I tend to agree that Daedalic also needed an investor.

As far as I am aware, Bastei Lübbe is also not pro-DRM for their digital books business, so this should not become a problem with Daedalic on GOG.com. It can not be worse than Koch Media and Deep Silver at least.

Could be a good couple after all, Daedalic and Lübbe. As long as Daedalic will stay here, I call it good news.

Than you lost your chance, as it was on the insomnia sale for 7 bucks if I remember correctly (already went over the 3rd round). You will have other opportunities though.

Seems likely, I suppose. I previously never read anything about Daedalic having any struggles - in fact I had always assumed they were doing well given their steady release rate and popularity among adventure fans.

Hope this works out for them.
