I don't see I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream listed, which is disappointing. Definitely one of the best adventure games I've played. It's no Grim Fandango beater. But still probably in my top five adventures.
We really, really need a proper Shadowrun game now. But all we seem to get is multiplayer games that sort of miss the point.

I found the Warhammer comment interesting. So it's alternate-future-fantasy-fiction? Or to fuse "high fantasy" and "sci fi", Sci Fantasy?

That's not exactly accurate. Warhammer 40k does have a lot of fantasy elements in it, its not the Warhammer universe in the future though. Its supposed to be our future, is just takes a lot of inspiration from Warhammer. When humans made it into space, the Orks were there. They didn't come from earth and join the humans in space travel. Elder are pretty much space elves, but they aren't the Warhammer elves.

The only good elf is a space elf. I recently started playing around with the Eldar. :D

Yeah, let's just call it space fantasy. Works for Star Wars.

Once upon a time Warhammer fantasy & Warhammer 40k were connected. The warhammer fantasy world was a world stuck in a warp storm, and thus had no contact with the surrounding world any more (apart from all the chaosy stuff. In fact it was entirely possible to have a chaos champion in Warhammer fantasy battles with a bolt pistol!)

GW has since separated the two completely and officially.

Seriously, though, I'm a bit cheesed off. I bought Deus Ex a while back from Steam and finally decided to give it a try (I was promised by multiple people that it's an amazing game and only the first island is irritating). I found out I'm victim of this peculiar, apparently insoluble bug that prevents Steam versions of Deus Ex from working. At all. Supposedly they patched it to fix a bug :3

Expect from the "concept" of Chaos. It's the same in both games. You can still use those models in both games (afaik).

That's what I meant by fantasy world expanded to a fantasy universe. So yeah, orcs were elsewhere as were the Eldar who were originally just called space elves (along with the space dwarves, who were renamed then axed).

I don't see any indication of it being our future though. It makes sense as a Warhammer-like universe 40,000 years from now. But not only does it include a lot of magical aspects, but also ignores a lot of our technological progress.

It is supposed to be our future, the emperor was actually born somehwere in todays Turkey, iirc. The lore makes a lot of references to earth. The "lack" of modern technologies is always handwaved/lampshaded by the "dark ages of technology" were some "AI urprising" occured and therefore advanced computerization was deemed illegal/herethical. All technology used "now" is "recovered" ancient technology.

According to AFnord they changed it to that. So yeah, hardly surprising. So many lore changes to that universe that it's difficult to keep up unless you're an avid fan.

Actually, I've never rolled a dice for that game. I worked in a comic book/hobby store when I was younger and the WH 40K books were my favourite read on the loo. But the PC games kept me up to date :-). I did read some of the novels though. Some are quite good (in what they try to be) others, well, not so.
