SAINT PAUL, Minn (August 29, 2012) CodeWeavers, Inc., a developer of software product that lets Mac OS and Linux users run Windows programs, announced today that it will make its product free - to everyone on earth with a computer - if 100,000 Americans pledge to vote in the upcoming presidential election.

CodeWeavers Return of The Quack: Flock the Vote! launches today and will make CodeWeavers software downloadable for free for 24 hours if 100,000 Americans pledge to vote in the 2012 Presidential election at www.CodeWeavers.com/flockthevote.
If you're a Mac and/or Linux user and there are Windows applications and/or games that you'd like to be able to run on your Mac/Linux PC, this might interest you. I've personally run many games purchased from GOG using CrossOver Linux without any issues.

Incredible. Your vote will make a difference after all.
Their earlier Lame Duck Challenge, which commemorated the departure of George W. Bush, was what got me into using CrossOver, and ultimately what brought me to GOG – the chaos that surrounded that giveaway apparently resulted in them having to buy new servers to replace the ones that got destroyed in the process.

Here's to hoping they learned from that last time and upgraded their hardware. :)

Oh yes, and to clear up any confusion in advance, Codeweavers is a direct corporate supporter of WINE development; money that goes into Codeweavers through sales and support of CrossOver goes directly into maintaining the WINEhq and AppDB, in addition to development of WINE itself. The fact that they're freely giving away their product is pretty awesome.

Edit: They haven't gotten to 100K yet, but they are close. Considering how nervous Mitt Romney makes me up here, I'm really hoping that more people come out and register to vote.

And to clear up some other confusion, here are two confusing quotes:
If 100,000 Americans pledge to vote in the 2012 Presidential election we will give our software away for FREE.
On September 11, 2012 we opened up pledging to all the people on the planet.

I know. US foreign policy affects our pushover government so completely we really should get to vote.

Darling_Jimmy:
Well, there are quite a few US expats around the world who are eligible to vote, I imagine...
I really hope CodeWeavers reaches 100,000 pledges before November 6th as the giveaway would really benefit many of us.
Just a bump to point out that they've decided that they hit their target. Although, I think there may have been some pledge stuffing around the office to get there.

Anyways, it's going to be free worldwide.

EDIT: I can't help but notice that Newman was diverting emails.
