Okay, what is with some devs? They seem to think that a -shared- camera in a multiplayer game is a good thing? Let's take Dungeon Siege 3 for an example. The game's fun to play and all, or it would be if THE DAMN CAMERA WASN'T SHARED!

I mean, come on, it's a action RPG hack'n'slash loot-fest, that you can play with four players. But it's not playable with that camera. Imagine four players in a tight area and being unable to move past the screen when one of you is going to the opposite direction? Geez..

Why can't they just make the game where everyone has their own camera/view/whatever-its-called...

Probably that they take the easy route, that they don't want to add memory or dev time to separate cameras out, and so everyone is limited to one space where, hopefully, everyone decides to go the same route. I do know a few games that actually have a hybrid route, where you share a camera until you reach some point far away from one another, where the screen will split to follow each player. I couldn't tell you which games those are off the top of my head unfortunately. But you will see this issue based on how much exploration/multi-tasking is expected from a game.
