It´s ridiculous to see how dumb is the nationalist ideology, allways need to create an ideal past that never existed (as it is reflected on their mythology). Happens with Serbia and their medieval era, Turkey and the sixteenth century ottoman era, arabs and the abbasi calyphate, USA and the nineteenth century, England and the Empire... We live in the better age of all, never before was so much technology, freedom, health, information... Of course we must improve our societies, but we must resist to the people that using cheap demagogical rethoric, only want to enslave the masses.
Spanish nationalism is one of the dumbest, they idealize the Austrian-dynasty imperium era, that would be the ideal society that should be constructed. Of course that was a time when people died young, there was religious repression, it was a society that didn´t achieve any relevant scientific discovery in any field of knowledge, but yes, we conquered lots and lots of countries and we subdue lots and lots of people. This ideology only offers vanity for being part of the mass (a concrete one), insted encouraging people to be better as individuals.
I suppose that many years later the glorification of the USSR will be part of the Russian nationalism in some way, it have all elements for the rethoric. Huge territorial conquest, great political power, huge scientific achievents (like Sputnik and such)... maybe depending on economic interest they will not refer to the soviet economic model. They´ll see on these achievents but a reflection of the russian "Volkgeist".
The Shoa is the most documented genocide in history, even more that the communist massacres or the armenian genocide.
