$19.95 is too much for the Command & Conquer Ultimate Collection considering the latest C&C game is a digital flaming shit bag. I'd wait for a better sale.

Dzsono: No problem! Both C&C and Red Alert are more or less fully implemented (with some excellent improvements) and Dune 2000 is coming along nicely.

Also, I forgot to mention that C&C Tiberian Sun was released as freeware a while ago. There is an official version, but it's a little weird to install, so I recommend downloading the community-made installer version. Get it here!

darthspudius: Does these include the campaigns? Wishful thinking I know.
I don't know to which games you are referring, but it doesn't matter - the campaigns are there :D

Edit: In OpenRA the music isn't there, however. But there are places you can get it if you use a search engine. They come in a weird format...

Well, don't play that one. A dollar something per game, remember?

That said, I got mine for probably less than half that. A 50% off sale isn't that great, wait for 75%-80% off, which come around from time to time.

darthspudius: Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2 have never had problems. Well my experience with the games it has always been the first 2 (Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert) that had a mountain of issues.
I DID have serious performance issues with Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2. It's why I looked up that patcher and why it was made in the first place. At least on some systems (including mine) there's extreme performance irregularities in both Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2, the performance will depend on things like the amount of fog of war on the screen, the amount of explosions etc.. The game would actually crash on me sometimes when I destroyed laser barriers which usually results in huge amounts of explosions at once. You can find more information about the issue and the patcher by following the link I provided. The issue is a bitch... and it's REAL. O_O

Oh yeah, the whole collection is shit because one out of nine games is crap. :P Even if you're only interested in the first three games per Tiberium and RA series + Generals (let's admit it: Renegade isn't too good either), that's less than 3$ per game including all addons. It's still a pretty great deal.

Still a lot better than the last disaster. Renegade at least had passable multiplayer, though I'd imagine the servers are long-since dead.

Anyways, I presume that this is infested with DRM as is typical of EA these days? I've already got physical copies of every C&C game I care about, so I'll only pay for a digital version if it's DRM free.

That is genuinely quite interesting, over all these years my original copies have ran without a single problem. The huge explosions glitch sounds quite mental.
I wanna play C&C4 now, just because.
My internet is slow so I'll download it today and test.

Well, worst come to worst, it allow me to legally have license to those games, and specially games data. Since some of the games I didn't even but (like RA3 - for instance). And some of them were owned by my older brother back then so its nice to have my own copy.

Yeah, you can't run any of those games without Origin running, I think.

I have the collection on Origin. So far I've only played the original C&C, Red Alert, and Tiberian Sun, and they can all run without Origin. I haven't tried yet the newer ones.

As someone else said, the collection has been sold on Amazon for 5$ at least a couple of times already, I bought it for 7.50$ IIRC a few months ago.

I also suggest the fan patches. The games run great on Win7 with them. Have a look on pcgamingwiki for more info.

If you happen to have applied patches that circumvent the copy protection, yes. However, by default the executables have wrappers that will make the Origin client launch if it isn't running yet and the games will refuse to start if Origin cannot log in (and most certainly also if you manage to log in but do not have the games on your account). I tried just a minute ago with C&C 1 and Tiberian Sun. That some community patches happen to lift the copy protection doesn't mean that those games do not need Origin to run. They are still DRM infested.

I never said the whole collection is shit... Basically, I said it's too expensive at $19.95.
I paid 5 USD for this collection last Christmas. :D
It was Amazon deal and obviously has expired. If you're looking into a deal for this collection, 20 USD is too much. Wait and look for new chance.

I just found out that after downloading RA2, and after installation, it mentioned that it require an update, which was quick. I guess this is the good thing about buying from the source (although in the good old days, a patch would be released, like Ultima 8 and many other games).

I can play the games just fine.

Can't test other games because lack of space, ha ha. At least I don't have to worry too much. Since they ACTIVELY selling the game, they must ACTIVELY support the games (making it playable on modern OS). I guess that is where the update comes in. Anyway, too early to say about other games. At least I don't have to worry so much about modern one.
