Maybe EA realized that C&C 4 will suck.
It was the early Command & Conquer series, & Warcraft Series that got me into PC gaming.
This is proof that EA isn't pure evil!
Wait... hmm...
* Komoto pictures the EA CEO sitting back in his chair, gently stroking back the fur of a cat, while laughing hysterically at ever increase volume and tempo.
" Those fools! They do not yet realize that they have willingly installed a game embedded with an advanced brain washing algorithm, created by none other than the EA Propaganda Division! It will not be long before their minds are ours! What did they think? That EA would do something altruistic! MWA HA HA HA HA "

Better than GlaDOS?

Well, he's a lonely guy... never had a companion cube...
so he doesn't know about it. ;-)
Oh, and big thanks to the thread creator! Only yesterday I talked about this being one of the few games I really wanted but can't get anywhere - and now that! Gave +Rep.

Anyone got a work around for it only working if you install it to "C:\Program Files\....." I like games on my other drive. C:\ is for OS and utils only.

I can't see your problem. I just extracted the folder SUN to my games directory and it works fine. Also, what did you do to have to install it? I just could extract it.
EDIT: I didn't run the file tibsun_regadd.reg but if you do you might want to edit it before to adjust the path.
EDIT2: Ok, no internet play possible here due to missing files from the support library. But singleplayer works fine and serial connection also should work.

Sorry, yeah, online multiplayer needs the "regadd" file running, and it points to C:\Program Files....
Winrar usually works best with rar archives - it's just another crappy version of zip archives.

She was insane, not megalomaniacal

I was not aware that the one ruled out the other ;-p
"I've experiments to run, there is research to be done, on the people who are still alive..."
I think that, given the chance, GlaDOS would definitely try to take over the world.
Nah I doubt it, at least not for the ego trip, it'd just to be for acquiring test subjects
Although was slated on launch because fo the graphics i really enjoyed the game. It was well balanced and had a good scfi storyline to it. Now its free thats fantastic news

Well, I'd say that the game amply demonstrates that she takes a perverse pleasure in exacting complete control over humans, so my argument still stands. She'd make the entire world into her laboratory, and every human alive into a test subject.

jbunniii: Thanks for posting this. I've always wanted to try these.
I have a question for those more familiar with the games. I've downloaded and successfully launched the "allied" Red Alert. However, the instructions are a little vague: the "soviet" download seems to be another separate copy of the game that wants to install in the same folder, but apparently has different missions. If I want both of them, can they coexist somehow? If so, how? Should I just install one on top of the other?

The Soviet and Allied play disks have exactly the same content on them [install wise] - the idea was (I guess) that you could give one of the disks to your friend and play MP against them.
The only thing that is different is the main menu background and opening sequence. You can start an allied campaign from the soviet disk and vice-versa (pretty sure thats how I remember it, been ages since I played).

I remember that you needed the disk of the fraction you were going to play as. Me and my friends would switch the disks with each other alot but would have to switch them again if we were to play the other campaign.
yeah. you could not run allied campaign through soviet disk and vice versa. you can check it yourself. RA1 is free too.
it was a marketing thing... at least with candcone. nod and gdi campaigns could easily fit on one cd.
not sure about RA1

i don't think you have to install the second disk. just have the burn disk in your drive for second campaign (or emulate the iso) and start the game like you did before. but this time you should be able to chose second campaign.
