I already saw Bones, Y the last man and Fables cited here. These are excellent choices.

To which i would personnaly add Courtney Crumrin, Strangers in Paradise, The Goon, Hellboy, Liberty Meadows, and Lenore. These are also very good comics you ought to check out !
OO a lot of good ones to check out - thanks a lot everyone! I'm currently sorting all my existing comics in ComicRack but after that, I'll go check these out.

Cleidophoros: Y the last man, Maus, Transmetropolitan, Invisibles, Neverwhere, Fables.
I just started reading Wlking Dead; it might turn out to be good though I don't know yet.
You have fantastic taste, try The Boys when you get a chance.
I enjoyed Dysart's Unknown Soldier a lot. It taught me everything I know about the ugandan civil war. Too bad it got cancelled early.

I also like DMZ and Ex Machina, but that might be because I live in NYC.

If you don't mind something a bit more... "mature", Crossed is very good. It's not for everyone tho.

With "mature" you do mean "filled with lots of blood and gore" right ? :p *prefers the nude mature kind ;)*

Navagon: You've probably already heard of Sandman and Neil Gaiman's stuff in general, but if not you're in for a treat.

Red_Avatar: I had that on my "to read" list along with Preacher - I'll definitely add that to my library :)
GO GET PREACHER ALREADY!!! Oh, sorry, did I shout?

And the best comic ever written "Hellblazer - Dangerous Habits". Hellblazer is a good pick anyway, but it very much depends on the author.

Oh, and Dark Knights Returns is also a "must read" especially if you remember the 80s.

Cheers mate, I will. Although it's next to impossible to find stuff here. I don't like to turn to interwebz for comics.
if you like manga you should try Boku no Pico. it is awesome, a bit scary at times tough.

Those are not mutually exclusive things... with Crossed you get both. At the same time.
I recently read the first collection of Locke & Key. I very much enjoyed it, and look forward to reading the rest of the series. Interestingly it turns out that the author is secretly Stephen King's son. Don't hold it against the guy though, it really is a great read.
I found Superman Red Son to be a good read. This story explores what would happen if there was a delay in sending young supes to earth that resulted in him landing in the Soviet Union instead of Kansas.
If you are interested in black comedy and satire, Johnny the Homicidal Maniac is a good read. The main character, Johnny C. is a man who has long since lost his sanity and the story explores what psychological and supernatural forces compel him to commit murder. This story is way more than just a slasher comic.

Don't forget the awesome russian Batman in that comic. Great comic indeed!
