the_bard: Im sure you're aware, but there are plenty of Ninja 250s around. You might consider those if you haven't already.
I know... I just want something a little different, and I really like the look of the one I got my eye on - part of it is the fact that it offers ABS, which makes me feel more comfortable. I might break down and get one if I can't have something else before the nice weather hits.

Firm believer of ATGATT ("All the gear, all the time"), and this is partly why; crashing isn't the only hazard out there. If it isn't the oblivious driver not seeing my nuclear-powered tennis ball-yellow jacket, it's some bug or bird doing their best to smack me in the head. I've been hit on the Adam's apple, below the helmet and above the jacket, and that is certainly no fun. Getting nailed right in the face has to be worse.

Be safe out there fellow riders, and enjoy the weather.
that is pretty impressive. Although it could've been worse ... you could've not been wearing a helmet ... :P (that's tongue sticking out for that would be disgusting ... and I guess somewhat amusing - but only from a distance).
