it is an average shooter, but coupled with Barker's twisted storytelling, it is actually pretty enjoyable. The FPS elements are average and feel "light". The characters, set pieces, and dialogue are where this game shines. If you see it on sale anywhere, its worth a pick up.
It would have been a lot better had it let go of your hand. The characters are nicely varied with some cool abilities, but you're only really allowed to use those when the game wants you to. It's very linear and on rails, but ultimately it's a good buy if you find it cheap somewhere.
Thanks all.

I went and checked on Steam and regular price is just $4.99 now. So I would expect to see it on sale for dirt sooner or later, maybe this winter sale coming up.

Steam also has a demo for it so I can try it out. I'm going to do that and see a little for myself maybe later on today. I'm not terribly fond of QTE's but I wouldn't say I hate them either. So I think I can deal with that alright. If the atmosphere is cool I may just wind up enjoying it, despite the flaws noted here.

Thanks again everyone for all the info. :D

It's pretty legitimately bad. The characters are an obnoxious parade of irritating stereotypes (oh hey, it's the techie who uses long words, and everyone tells her to speak English! I am totally enthralled by this unique and interesting character!), it's a squad shooter where you can't control your squad in any meaningful way, the AI is dumb as a box of bricks (i.e. your team will charge enemies who explode when they get close), and because of that, you spend half your time playing nursemaid to your dumb, dead friends. Your party is incredibly badly balanced (i.e. you won't be using the possession guy except when the game decides to force you to; same for the priest) the plot made me roll my eyes until I thought I was going to have a seizure (see, an ancient evil is trying to be reborn, but you're part of an elite military unit that specializes in the paranormal oh lord, I can't even summarize it without twitching), the environments are boring, linear, and repetitive, the ending is crap, the QTE's are crap.

I didn't hate it, though, because it's so enthusiastic. Barker fails so completely to create any sort of atmosphere, but he tries so hard that it's hard not to find it a little endearing. But if you must pick it up, don't spend to much on it.
