anjohl: As an experiment, I think the variables and results with resemble the "tragedy of the commons" in many ways. I expect sub-Radiohead results on this.
DarrkPhoenix: I'd contend that whatever the result are it's a major win for the developers of the game. Most of the people who thought the game was worth the retail price have likely bought it by this point;
any money brought in through this sale is in all likelihood money that the developers wouldn't have seen otherwise. Even if people only pay 1 cent that's 1 cent the developers wouldn't have otherwise gotten. And in addition to the money brought in by the sale it also gives the game a large amount of free publicity that will likely drive further sales once the game goes back to traditional pricing. Overall it looks like an incredibly savvy move by the folks at 2DBoy.
Perhaps, which is likely the intention of the sale. However, I still think the mean will be at most $1.50-$2.00. I think staggered price drops are a great idea in PC gaming...even Derek Smart has a great philosophy:
Once a game has gone beyond it's "shelf life", he puts it up on his website for FREE.
Companies like Activision are clueless.
