I experienced something similar earlier today.
The solution for me, was to go to the paypal site directly, log in and just log out again.
After that making a purchase was no problem.
I've given up trying to pay with PayPal on GOG,. Still the only store where I have this issue.
Has been happening for some time with me. Funny that I missed this thread, it also started happening to me around February. I tried asking support once and they told me to suck it up (well, not really).

Nowadays I just put whatever in that field and change my PP pw more often than before, even if support tried to convince me there wasn't any hanky panky going on.

Just happened to me, I find this very strange and kinda scary...someone asking for personal information that it's ALREADY stored in my account.

wpegg: It's not stored in your GOG account. They store the bare minimum, meaning that such verification checks might happen. They're actually for your own benefit, and GOG are following best security practices.
Why should GOG store my tax id? That doesn't make any sense.

I think he means his PayPal account, not his GOG account.

Yes, I was referring to my PayPal account.

We don't store this ID, which is why our payment system operator redirects you to a form which asks you for that ID. This only happens for PayPal payments made by Brazilian users, and, as far as I know, it had to be implemented due to some new fiscal regulation by the Brazilian government.
To my knowledge this should also apply to cradit card payments, but only if the company processes its payments in Brazil (which is not the case for us, of course).

Please enter your CPF/CPNJ number in the form to complete your purchase. I apologize if this is an inconvenience, but this form is not a phishing attempt, I swear on my honor as a fledgling aikidoka. :D
