Is it really that bad? :P

I found it unplayable. It's the Flatout 3 equivalent to the Carmageddon series, different developer and all.

It has a decent number of votes here (1300+), but maybe GOG didn't bring it because of compatibility issues, whereas Stainless didn't mind releasing it on Steam.

I always preferred the first two myself. Could never get it to run quite right.

I was always under the impression that Stainless was embarrassed by the game. I'm surprised that they've released it at all and feel bad for anyone that buys it because it has the name Carmageddon on it, expecting a similar experience.

From the product's description:

"The turd game in the Carmageddon series.

Yes, it's the game literally... SOME of you asked for! And so, in the spirit of "well, alright then, if you insist..." we present the third game in the Carmageddon series, in the knowledge that some of you Carma fans out there would like to have a complete Carmageddon collection in your Steam library. Nothing wrong with that. "

LOL, well, there you go! I think that answers tfishell's question rather directly as well...

Edit: Hehe, there's more!

"Warning - a little heads up - This game contains humour, strong language and violence that some may find offensive. You may find it offensive in other ways, too. We do.

Another warning - Don't say we didn't warn you - Stainless Games had no involvement in the development of Carmageddon: TDR 2000. So, you have been warned.

Another another warning - in case you missed it... Stainless had NOTHING to do with this game - So, hopefully that's clear now. Carry on!"

Another mocking blurb:

"Want the "classic" Carmageddon: TDR 2000 for FREE? Buy Carmageddon: Reincarnation on Steam Early Access! But if you only want Carmageddon: TDR 2000, buy it here. Although if you do that, some may question your sanity. Or your manliness."

They are also so ashamed of it that they sell it at half the price of the other other two games, despite being a newer game.

I'll probably get it eventually after it gets released here. It's the only one (other than Reincarnation) that I never owned, in fact, I only heard about it years after it was released.

I did get to play an illegal copy of it once. I don't recall falling in love with it, but didn't hate it either.

More notorious for me were the poor design choices of making time more difficult to earn and adding a shitload of missions between each race.
I played this years ago and didn't find it too horrible... Nothing amazing but not bad. But then again I was young and playing something that was a tad controversial could have made me blind to how it really was.

Nice!

"Health Warning! Please note: Just like that whiffy old turkey, don’t blame us if TDR 2000 consumption is rapidly followed by uncontrollable projectile vomiting and violent diarrhoea!"
I think they need the money these days after that Carma4 won't be on sale thing

But come on GOG you have been dropping the ball these days
I remember the weird first level with a little lake with a shark in it and the batcave...
It definitely wasn't as good as the first two.
