I never had a Visa and I don't have a Mastercard any more. Why can't I use a ammex card?

AmEx charges merchants significantly more than other credit card companies (especially outside the US), so as a result the number of merchants willing to accept it is significantly lower. It's actually pretty rare to find merchants outside the US that accept AmEx.
