Oh wow! Thank you very much, Dischord. What a wonderful birthday gift! (I'm not kidding, my birthday is two days from now, coincidental is it is).
AkuraTDB: Hello. I've been buying games via a Visa gift card, but recently, trying to buy using it, as well as a MasterCard gift card keeps giving me a payment rejection. Both cards certainly have enough money on it(I checked the balance). Both cards still work with making other purchases, as far as I know, including purchases over the internet.
I've put in a support ticket, but it's been a week with no response. I've already missed the sale to buy Imperial Glory(still want/trying to buy it, though), and it's still rejecting my purchase. Does anyone know why this would be doing it, and better, how to fix it?
Firek: As far as I can tell, JuriJ sent you a response 4 days ago, right after the weekend. Please check your spam/junk folders, just in case - both on your mail provider's website and in your mail software, if you use any. I will also resend the response in case there was any mail server hiccup on our end.
Long story short, unfortunately our logs don't show any specific reason for the decline, just a "generic decline" by your bank. The same thing happens for both cards, so you should either use PayPal (if that's an option for you), or try yet another card, or contact your bank to investigate why they declined the payment attempts.
Now, if you use PayPal, you should ideally first send money to your PayPal account, and then make a purchase. This way is practically 100% guaranteed to work. If you use one of these cards through PayPal, odds are that the very same bank restrictions will apply.
Thank you for the response. I'm not sure I actually checked my inbox(silly me), and could have easily missed it there. Even so, it mostly says the same thing as the original error.
That the problem being a foreign transaction seems odd, since the Visa card worked before on this site.
Another funny story about the Visa one, though. It was originally supposed to be a prepaid debit card, but for some reason(they never told me), they couldn't confirm my personal info, both through their online service and over the phone, and converted it into a gift card. Following this, it seems that they secretly tacked on a transaction fee for every single purchase, even when both their debit cards and gift cards advertise no fees.
Anyways, I'll see if either card still works for non-GoG purchases, and if not, contact them. I've got a few words for Visa about the previus paragraph, assuming they don't put me on hold for 5 minutes every question.
