Hi, I made a request to cancel my Grimrock preorder through the "Contact Us" - > "My orders, payments and downloading games" form. Is that the correct avenue to ask for a refund?

I've been looking around for some sort of automated way to do it on the account page or anywhere else, but I didn't find anything.

GOG is very new on this preorder thing (the The Witcher 2 preorder wasn't really one, as it wasn't possible to pay until a very short while before release), so it's very possible there isn't any kind of automatic system set up for that situation. I'm quite sure you chose the correct place for your query.

Actually The Witcher 2 was a real preorder. Grimrock is a pre-purchase.

Not really. You clicked a button and got things, then a few months later you got an email telling you to pay up. A preorder is reserving your copy, but since GOG has unlimited copies, it was pretty much just a register of interest.
I see that my colleague has replied to you already. The procedure is that he confirms that the user is the account's owner, then cancels the order, and then lets me know that I can issue a refund for the actual payment. I did this a moment ago, so you should have the funds back on your account in a few business days.

Not even telling you to pay, but rather telling you it was now possible to pay if you wished to buy the game.
