"People believe the entire internet is one shop".

EXACTLY.

People see a sale, get duped into steam, and then find a site where games just WORK...and you people just tear him to shreds.

Never, ever open a business.

Roman5: With the new website launch and these new commercials, you can expect a lot of new people here

you can also expect a lot of these retarded threads in the future

Get ready folks, because it's going to be one hell of a tuesday

My reaction images are ready
Oh SHIT! Be warned Internetz, Roman is ready with a legion of stupid images that he thinks are funny and that he had nothing to do with creating!

Seriously, what is wrong with you? Is this some incredibly lame attempt to be 'Internet tuff guy' or something? The concept of you serving as the rater of quality of threads and posts is both hilarious and revolting.

Nothing is wrong with me

It seems to me that you are the one who is trying to "Attempt" anything here, given how passionately you reply to every single one of my posts

Please re-read the thread

You're right. I am trying to attempt something. Time t confess.

I'm attempting to point out what a ridiculous, smug douchebag you act like.

Man, I feel so much better. The truth has set me free!
Well I don't. Please don't ruin my views of this community, we can do so much better.

I don't see any reason for you people to fight over this anymore, especially since the original (legitimate, in my opinion) question was answered ages ago.

Without trying to be a moderator or a "tuff guy" lawlayer myself I suggest dealing personal matters elsewhere.

Roman5: Check out some of my previous threads that I made. I post Valid criticism and opinions towards games/publishers and I'm classified as a "Troll" for doing that

The Hypocrisy is very sweet indeed
Stop being an attention whore.

Roman5: In all seriousness though, I would like to know what goes through the minds of the people who make these threads

"Hey guys, I just bought a lot of titles from XBL, can I transfer them to my PSN account?"
Some companies offer discounts for switching from a competitor. There is nothing wrong with the OP's question.
Enough with the trolling thing. You guys here on always assume everyone is same. Unlike you (yeah %95 of this forum) people are not mass-producted. They have personalities, differences.

Enough declaring someone with a different thought or question!

I wish GOG Forums would have the same quality of GOG.com's great people.

Ignoring all the bickering now ocurring in this thread, I don't believe Steam's Fallouts to be too different from GOG's. Even if GOG's versions might be a little more compatible out of the "box", you would want to install most of these community patches on them anyway. Just get them and you should be fine.

I know that the community patches work beautifully with the retail version of Fallout, which is potentially the least compatible of the lot.

But didn't I read something about the GOG version using the DOS version of Fallout under DOSbox, while the Steam version uses the Windows version? I know the retail version had both on the CD.

GOG sells the Windows version.

Then I stand corrected.

Select the folder with them in, hold the shift key and then press the 'delete' key.

When the box pops up, press 'Yes'.

Roman5: If OP is having problems running his fallout copies from Steam and comes here for help then that's totally fine and I'm glad some people posted some helpful info, however when he makes threads with ridiculous titles like that, then it's not fine

Why on earth would ANYONE think that you can transfer your game licenses like that between different companies?

I already made an example in my previous post, another example would be "Hey guys, I bought this Voucher to shop at LIDL, can I transfer it to shop at Tesco?"

That would be like me making a thread and asking "Hey guys, My Wii broke down, can I call Playstation Support for help?"

It's Ridiculous and can easily be classified as a "Troll thread"
Roman

You are an a**hole.

Are you aware that there are many titles which can be purchased on Green Man Games, Impuse, and GamersGate that can be activated on Steam and vice versa?

I can't believe you have the audacity (or is it irony) to call me a troll.

Do not post in my thread anymore. You are hijacking it with your useless posts.

To the mods on GOG and the community: It was not my intention to start an argument with my first thread. I apologize.

You didn't start it and didn't get into the middle of it, so even if someone does happen to notice the thread they wouldn't tie you to it.

But yeah, the big short version is that GOG has no affiliation with Steam, Origin, Ubisoft or any other distribution network or online physical materials distribution. A bunch of users in here do use steam or gamer's gate or desura or whatever, but otherwise there's little interaction. If you look around you'll spot some giveaways for indie games, usually for Steam if you'd like to try and get something back for the recent purchases. That does mean that any title you've bought elsewhere would have to be-repurchased here. The difference between GOG and other networks however is that the content doesn't have Digital Rights Management, meaning that nobody can take away your game or refuse your usage and copy of it. Also, there's a group of people who work at getting the games running on a platform that you can use. For many older games, they're mounted onto a copy of Dosbox, which is basically an emulation program of the Windows DOS program, one of the first operating systems on Windows computers.

Now, that's not to say everything works without issue. There's always going to be unexpected issues between hardware, downloads, and sometimes the game itself. The community is pretty good about looking for fixes however, and finding them. Because of how the deals are created though, GOG isn't allowed to include fan-made patches in the downloads, but we're free to share patches for each other to use. I'm still looking for a solution to one of my games, but at the moment I'm still working my way through the sub forum for that game.
