orcishgamer: On the serious note, it's not "just to be on the safe side", it's because there have been some serious compatibility issues, specifically with Logitech pads in the past. Glad to hear they've fixed them, but some have had issues in the past.
It is largely irrelevant if some ten year old DirectInput-era PC gamepads have nowadays problems with XInput games.
Yes, new Xbox-to-PC games will usually be designed with the XBox360 gamepad in mind, when the gamepad support is relevant (e.g. not FPS games, for sure). But it is also common sense that Logitech etc. are making their modern PC gamepads to work with modern PC games, ie. that they are XBox360-compatible.
Hence, it is perfectly safe to select non-MS gamepads too, as long as they are not those 10 year old DirectInput-only controllers. And since we are on GOG, they might even offer better backwards compatibility too even without using commercial non-free utilities like XPadder.
orcishgamer: Any new game with "controller support" will specifically have been tested with a MS Windows controller. This cannot be said for any other pad on the market. They may work, of course, probably will work in fact. But for guaranteed compat, unless it's uncomfortable or something, go with the MS pad.
Saying that they "may" work with modern PC games is mere FUD, nothing else. It simply wouldn't make no sense whatsoever for Logitech etc. to make PC gamepads that don't work with modern PC games.
We already cleared that they work with Darksiders which was supposed to be so problematic with non-MS gamepads.
AlKim: I can balance this out by sincerely saying the PS design is the worst controller I have ever used. It's the main reason why I would buy an XBox 360 over a PS3, and why my PS2 sees so very little use as anything but a DVD player.
And I find the PS2 like symmetrical design much better than the asymmetrical Atari Jaguar gamepad design of the XBox. For games where you'd want to use both thumbsticks, it just feels silly they are positioned asymmetrically. And even though my hands are more to bigger size, I still find the XBox360 gamepad design overly bulky.
I seriously think you are just trying to be argumentative claiming PS2 design is the "worst ever". Or then you have seen preciously few gamepads.
