I am a fan of Outlaws and I love Western games. Techland's Call of Juarez was also a very good game and today Ubisoft announced sequel of Call of Juarez coming 2009 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. I am very happy for this, if you didn't play the first game just play it, it's awesome western game since Outlaws. I played GUN too, but I don't like it much.

I'm more interested in seeing Techland's Dead Island, but new Call of Juarez is also good news.
Each time Techland puts out a new game it's better than the one before, so I'm quite interested in how the second part of Juarez will look like, and more important how it will play like.
I hope that with their new games they can become another 'CD Projekt-like' company. Real gamers first and foremost, businessmen later.
Oh yes! Call of Juarez was really a great game - and I'm not even fan of westerns! Story was so great I just couldn't stop playing, and even though I hate sneaking, it was actually fun in this game! Looking forward to another dose of greateness...
I heard the first Call of Juarez wasn't so hot. But I never played it.
Neversoft's third person GTA-esque western title Gun received better reviews, but I never played that either.
Then there was also Rockstar's Red Dead Revolver which I did play for about a whole hour and two levels in before I quit. It was fun enough but I just never got into it.
But if you have Half-life 2 and enjoy online multiplayer, then I'd also recommend the mod Fistful of Frags. It was also decent fun and quite some polished production quality overall, but it never really grabbed my attention.
The preacher was awesome, but Billy's gameplay was awful. The whole rope mechanic made me want to leap off a very tall building.
I preferred GUN over CoJ, but I will definitely buy this.
Random thought: Juarez is the actual first name of my father in law.
Call of Juarez was incredible. I'm going to quote myself from another board:
It was so incredibly awesome. I loved every moment of it, even the stealth stuff - and you all know how much I dislike stealth. Excellent game; in terms of immersion and making you care, it's right up there with Half-Life 2 and CoD4, and it's much cleverer than both of them. Great use of the medium, great writing, great art, great design, great basically everything.
And yeah, it's flawed, but the flaws are completely swamped by the huge amount of stuff it does right. I can't even be bothered thinking about the stuff I didn't like. It's brilliant.
edit: don't let the first level put you off; it's easily the worst one in the game (gameplay-wise)

I wish someone would have told me this before I played the first level and furiously uninstalled. : (
I enjoyed the game, but Billy's accent really bothered me, almost as much as those shitty whip scenes, and Billy's jumping, I died a thousand times because he jumps like a vag. I still really liked it though.
If you want to know, Techland is also a Polish company, as well as CD Projekt. It's one of the competitors on Polish market to CDP.
It's the answer to someone's post from other thread, that he do not know any other publishers in Central and Eastern Europe.
Yeeeaaah, in one or two years Poland is going to control the whole world's game market. ;-)

Not just Poland but the entire eastern European sector. Many more games with "innovashun" and fun are coming out from Europe than in the old USA.

But their first game Chrome is not good. I really want to love the game but I couldn't, it was so buggy and pointless game for me. Anyway Call of Juarez is one of the best western shooters.
That's good news. I haven't played CoJ, yet, mainly because I was disappointed with the general "feeling" when playing the demo, but maybe my expectations were just too high. After all, I also enjoyed playing through GUN. While I don't think that was bad, I'm fairly sure that CoJ is better.
By the way, if you like western shooters, you should definitely check out Smokin' Guns. It is an improved, free stand-alone version of what used to be Western Quake³, and it was only released about three weeks ago. It's great fun, give it a try :)
