....for someone who's not into digital video?

My mom saw a LMN movie she'd like to have the other day. But there doesn't seem to be a "DISC" option for it so does buying an AIV get me a usable video file I can use offline (AVI, MP4, etc) or is it more of a Streaming service that would useless for her?

I think the video format is WMV, you can actually test it out by downloading this getting this free movie featurette on Amazon Instant Video:
