iainmet: I think BT are aiming to get the areas done first off that have no fibre at all. County Durham there is no Virgin Media at all. Teeside has it then Sunderland and Newcastle but our council wouldnt subsidise the installation at the time for the area in Durham when they were doing the roll out.

H2IWclassic: A quick look through some leaked databases suggest the local cabinet has partial coverage apparently. Whatever that means. I'd sign up for VM services but their contract terms suck, nor do I want to take the other bundled stuff to get a reasonable price.
We are stuck with Sky. No VM at all and Infinity was supposed to launch 31st March here, checking it though the date has moved to 30th June unfortunately. Thankfully Sky has launched their fibre on the BT network start of April so we should be able to get Fibre once it is up and running immediately.

adambiser: You get about $3 a pound for it, if the site I'm looking at is correct.

wodmarach: they get about $450 a tonne which is about 1/4 of a mile of cable they usually steal about 3miles in one go for the cost of a piece of rope and a van...
I knew it was a pretty good amount of money for relatively little work. I hope you get your internet up soon. I know that can be frustrating.

The electric adapter went bad on our cable modem and didn't have it for about a day. I didn't mind so much (even though I need a connection to work), but my wife about went crazy I think. lol
aaand he's just left theres a little overlap in the times people said so jennywenny and FraterPerdurabo have PM's incoming

I also think I broke the GOG downloader it's reporting 129kb/s while downloading at 25MB/s!

That's strang Sky use exactly the same fibre network as BT so if it's available on Sky it'll be available on BT. The dates you are getting from BT are estimates that always fall at the end of a quarter. Mine changed at the end of each quarter for a year and a half before I finally got it.

I'm chuffed though as BT have just rolled out an upgrade I've gone from 40/10 to 80/20!

Are you new to infinity? I think they have been setting people up over the last week or two straight onto 80/20 it was opened to existing customers yesterday.
Currently ripping out the copper lines on our street in the hope that they'll come and lay some nice shiny optical cables instead.

Fingers crossed!
