As far as I know, the Mayans didn't even predict the end of the world. It's just that their calendar ended that day.

By the way, the Mayan civilization collapsed centuries before the arrival of the Spaniards. It was the Aztecs (among others) who had to face the conquistadors.

ED: Despite their decline, the Mayans did not disappear. There are still Mayans around.

The whole end of the world thing comes from the fact that tracing the mayan calander back finds 2 seperate cataclysmic events at the end of the last 2 mayan eras.

If it resets at 18.0.0.0.0, but apparently it resets at 13.0.0.0.0 so it would be 0.0.0.0.1
It works like a normal calender, after Dec 31 is Jan 1.

Do I need to defend the mayans saying they didn´t say a thing about the world ending, but a time period :P.................sorry to blow everyone´s end of the world party ;P, blame specific demographic targeted media.

It still fascinate me that despite there is nothing in the Mayan scripts that predict the end of the world (as far as I know). Much of what we know today comes from an archeologist (or cryptologist?) that interpreted many of the tablets and other findings. Can't remember his name right now, but, there have been others too..

Even the conquistadors destroyed information - and later, who knows? All I know is that much has been lost throughout the history, and we can only wait and see.

And to quote one of the devs here, I'll pick up some too popcorn and find me some front seats. But it's like in being a movie theater, you don't sit long for just the ads. :D
