I played a bit of this (up to the hospital) and was wondering about the "hotspots", when you press the Spacebar, it highlights interactive stuff in the rooms.

The problem is it bloody highlights everything rather than just items that will progress the plot.

Is there a way to differentiate between whats a waste of time and actual pertinent items?

Thanks for any help :)

No, all hotspots are highlighted. That's kind of standard behavior for point&click adventures as far I recall. The feature is meant to spare you the pixel hunting, not to guide you through the plot.

I probably play about 15 adventure games per year and don't remember one that implements the feature you're asking for. _If_ a game offers hints, then that's usually done through other means than hotspot highlighting: A diary, clicking on the main character, implementing an in-game character you can ask for help, etc.
Nope, sorry.
What Psyringe said, Highlights are usually every item in a room.

If you want another way to get hints without too much spoilers you can try this http://www.uhs-hints.com/uhsweb/blackmirror2.php

Yeah I havent played many adventure games, but it wasn't that I needed hints, it's just time consuming clicking on every darn thing in a room and waiting for some dumbass remark from the character only to find the item is just decoration.

Thanks for the replies, have some rep all your help guys :)
