Not that I pay attention to reviews, especially gamespot, but I just noticed they gave Baldur's Gate (minus any expansions) a 9.2 and Baldur's Gate Enhanced (complete with expansions) a 6.

XD

Ouch. Think we can put this in the "What were they thinking?" file right next to "New Coke" and the remake of "Psycho".
That is rather strange I just wonder why so low, oh well doesn't matter to me I still wish to get it some day

PC Gamer gave it 9/10.

Opinions, hey.

Probably due to age like the THAC0 and that this game has too much "Freedom" and this "Enhanced Edition" did not offer much.

That doesn't suprise me. PC Gamer is probably the more reliable review by far. I do like gamespot for looking games up but their reviews are usually really screwed up. They gave AOE 1 a 6.8 and I worship that game.

A review is just a single persons opinion. Don't look for score. You know what you like in a game, so look for those things.

The PC Gamer reviewer may have been blinded by shiny borders and a new female wild mage to care about the faults, the Gamespot one may hate RPG's - we will never know.

Why is it so far-fetched? Baldur's Gate is my second favourite game of all time, and this so-called "Enhanced Edition" doesn't interest me much either.
Reading the patches you can see there were a lot of bugs when the EE came out so wouldnt suprise that they gave such negative score.

What's the difference between the two?
It's difficult to compare the scores, as a good deal of time has passed between the original reviews and that of the recent release. I'm not a big fan of the concept of games "aging" in general, which is a separate topic I won't get into now, but the timing of the Enhanced Edition in relation to the original certainly influences its score.

I tend to agree with amok, in that I find review scores in themselves to be fairly inaccurate representations of whether I will enjoy a game. The details of the review, and whether such details coincide with what you enjoy in a game, are far more significant to me.

Exactly.
I've only just started playing and this may offend some die hard RPG fans but I kind of consider NWN2 to be Baldurs Gate Enhanced.

What was their justification? Their reasons are more important than the score in a case like this.

If anyone is offended by your position, then I would say they are taking the topic a bit too personally and seriously. In my experience, however, each game is sufficiently unique to be worth a separate look if you are a fan of the genre and amenable to the conventions of each .
I would guess they are judging it as an upgrade purchase rather than on its own merits.
