IAmSinistar: not-at-all-cyberpunk short story.

MadOverlord: What a shame... :P

Nobody's mentioned the Sega Genesis version of Shadowrun? It was ahead of its time, being somewhat sandbox-ish. But it's very hard at first, and very slow. Still, I sunk a lot of hours into it. The Shadowrun Unlimited mod for Shadowrun Returns is about as close as you can get to a remake of it.

Ah and what about Hell: A Cyberpunk Thriller. It might be a terrible game, but hey, it does have "Cyberpunk" right in the title.
It must be good if it has cyberpunk in the title, right...right? :P
Anyway, I used to have the genesis version of Shadowrun and it sure was a blast! The SNES version wasn't as "mindblowing" though it was playable and had it's pros and cons.
I never heard about the unlimited mod, I gotta give it a shot as soon as possible.
Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura.

Not typically fan of anything of the genre to any degree, this one has such high degree of uniqueness, with RPG kind of seasoning, that one cannot (mostly) but love it!

As such, it is not a pure cyberpunk game - I would guess - but one of the key themes is the struggle for supremacy between magic (or, tradition) and technology (or, innovation), in context of what quite possibly shall have been the upheaval with the industrial revolution.

Edit: remove repetition.

My (obvious) picks: System Shock, System Shock 2, and Deus Ex. Get them. They are great.

IAmSinistar: The Lawnmower Man - the FMV game of the pretty bad cyberpunk movie adaptation of the not-at-all-cyberpunk short story.
Huh, there was also a SNES game for The Lawnmower Man. No FMV, though.
Let's see...

The past:
and [url=http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/deus_ex_human_revolution]Human Revolution (this one is closer to post-cyberpunk).
System Shock 2.
Beneath a Steel Sky.
Circuit's Edge.
Dreamweb.
and [url=http://www.gog.com/game/syndicate_wars]Syndicate Wars.
Rise of the Dragon.
Blade Runner.
A Mind Forever Voyaging.

The Future:
Cyberpunk 2077
I like Chaos Overlords.
Yeah, I was going to say 'Beneath a Steel Sky' too - it has an entire VR part and its free, on your shelf right now!
Uplink
The Matrix games (Enter the Matrix and Path of Neo)
The 'Hacker' games off of the C64! (apparently there were DOS versions but Activision included them in a C64 emulated pack for PC 10 years later so I guess it wasn't as good)

Oh and just remembered - there's those 'Hacker Evolution' thingies that keep turning up in Indie bundles too - not sure it they're meant to be directly updates of the 1985 Hacker game?

Wait, do the Assassin's Creed games technically count because its all actually that Desmond guy in some weird past life regression VR simulation thingy (I haven't actually played them yet...)

Oh and if Blade Runner counts then so should Tex Murphy too, right?

You know, I want to say Paradroid just because that 'take over other droids' sub game was just about the best implementation of a fun representation of Hacking ever!

I guess PAL-18 from Anachronox does hacking too, thinking about it...

Mirror's Edge seems to be set in a cyberpunky world, a cyberpunky world where your char is only interested in parkourery but still...

Good job! I should have recalled this one myself.

Meanwhile, there's the B.A.T. games. Played them on the Amiga, but they're out for DOS too.

Wishlist entries:

B.A.T.
B.A.T. II: The Koshan Conspiracy
both games

All the cybepunk titles I knew of have already been named... (some of my favourite games, there!)
Maybe I could add Gemini Rue? I thought it to be a great dystopian adventure game with a moderate cyberpunk-ish feeling.

GOOD CALL, of course older point & click brings to mind 'Steel Sky' though I would imagine that has been mentioned.

WHICH REMINDS ME
separate posts but this has been driving me nuts since this thread started.

20 or so years ago I played a point and click adventure demo that was roughly cyberpunk. I didn't have a chance to play it but for a few minutes but I remember you were a detective of some kind and very early on you find a patch of some sort. As a goof me and the guy playing tried using the patch and our character was instantly turned into a monster thus killing him and ending the demo. I don't even know if it made it to full game status, it might just have been some demo my friend had picked up from some wanna be programmer.

That game had great potential, sadly it didn't live up to it and descended into obscurity. Worth checking out for the curious.
If you like Yahtzee Croshaw of Zero Punctuation fame, or don't dislike him too much, or would like to see something made by him that isn't a video game review, video game column or video game, you might be interested to know that he has made a Let's Play of that very same game with commentary by himself and Gabriel Morton.

The game you're talking about is "Rise of the Dragon".

Thanks for the link, I've played most of Yahtzee's games so I'll see what the good man has to say.

Back to cyberpunk games, let's not forget about Machinarium, there's one scene at the end of the game that is pure 100% cyberpunk, as much as anything I've seen.
